Voice Fans Unite Over 'Annoying' Finale
The Voice fans found the Season 28 finale to be underwhelming. On Wednesday, December 17, the hit singing competition hosted the final night of its 28th season. During the two-hour holiday spectacular finale, audiences were treated to holiday skits and performances by top-charting singers, past and current contestants, and the four beloved coaches: Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé, Niall Horan, and Snoop Dogg.
Despite the festive songs and comical bits, fans were not impressed by the program. In fact, a few had even taken to social media in the middle of the segment to express their frustrations about the "exhausting" special. One user on X said, "I think I'll just sit here by the fire with the TV on mute until the winner is announced." Another added, "What a boring finale, these are not finale songs... now I remember why ratings are low regardless of the judges' star power." A third begged, "Please make the finale 30 minutes next season @NBCTheVoice as the skits are exhausting and annoying."

During the holiday spectacular, each coach, aside from Niall Horan, took the stage with their finale contestants. Prior to the special, the former One Direction member was feeling ill and put on vocal rest. Luckily, Season 23 winner Gina Miles stepped in to perform with his finalist Aiden Ross, and Reba took the stage for a third time to join the country trio Dek of Hearts.
The night started off with the singer, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé taking the stage with a rendition of Journey's hit 1978 single "Lights." Her last performance of the night was a duet with her very own finalist. The country singers gave a "beautiful" version of Pentatonix's "Mary, Did You Know?"

This season's coaches are all fairly newer to The Voice. Snoop Dogg and Michael signed on during the show's 26th season. Niall made his debut as a coach in the spring of 2023, just a year before Reba was brought on.
Blake Shelton is the show's longest-reigning judge with 23 seasons under his belt. He left after Season 24, giving his spot over to Reba. That year, she joined Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Niall in the iconic red chairs.
Next season, veterans Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John will be returning for the show's first-ever three-coach lineup.
When the show returns, it will follow a new revamped name and format. The Voice: Battle of Champions will include several changes, including the return of many alums.
The Voice: Battle of Champions premieres on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
