Trump's Urgent SCOTUS Message on Truth Social

Trump's Direct Appeal to the Supreme Court

Donald Trump has made it clear that he is watching the Supreme Court closely, especially as it prepares to rule on the legality of his tariffs. The former president has taken to social media to express his views and even urged supporters to pray for a favorable outcome. This approach reflects his belief that the Court plays a critical role in shaping the future of his policies.

In November, Trump encouraged his followers to "pray" for a positive decision regarding the tariffs. He continued this message on Tuesday by posting on Truth Social: “Everybody should pray that the United States Supreme Court has the Wisdom and Genius to allow Tariffs to GUARD our National Security, and our Financial Freedom!”

Repeating the Message with Intensity

Trump has not been shy about repeating his message to the Supreme Court. A similar post from last month claimed, “Evil, American hating Forces are fighting us at the United States Supreme Court. Pray to God that our Nine Justices will show great wisdom, and do the right thing for America!”

Days before this, he warned against the Court ruling in favor of “hostile foreign interests” that do not align with U.S. interests. “They couldn’t care less about us,” he wrote on Truth Social. “I look so much forward to the United States Supreme Court’s decision on this urgent and time sensitive matter so that we can continue, in an uninterrupted manner to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Legal Challenges Against Tariffs

Two lawsuits are currently under review, focusing on whether Trump had the legal authority to impose tariffs unilaterally. One case was filed by Learning Resources, Inc., an educational toy manufacturer, which argued that the tariffs posed an “existential threat” to its business due to increased import costs.

During the oral arguments held by the Supreme Court last month, Trump expressed strong emotions, stating that the outcome would be “literally, LIFE OR DEATH for our Country.”

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently mentioned that the Supreme Court’s ruling on Trump’s tariff policy is expected to be announced in January, along with the selection of a new Federal Reserve chair. Bessent echoed Trump’s stance, emphasizing that the tariffs are tied to national security. He told FOX Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo that the administration has “plenty of revenue alternatives” but hopes the Court will approve the trade policy.

“Economic security is national security. So this ruling is really a national security ruling and if they rule against the administration, they will be ruling against national security,” Bessent said.

Economic Impact and Public Perception

According to the New York Times, citing data from the Commerce Department, the U.S. trade deficit in goods and services decreased by more than 10 percent from August to September, reaching $52.8 billion.

Trump has consistently promoted his tariff policy as a way to boost manufacturing. During a White House Christmas reception, he claimed, “I say it’s the golden age of America, when these factories and plants open up by the thousands.” He added that factories are coming from Germany, Japan, and Canada because they do not want to pay tariffs. “We have an age that’s coming up, the likes of which this country has never seen,” he said.

However, despite his optimism, public perception of the tariffs is mixed. A recent poll found that Trump’s approval ratings on the economy were the lowest during either of his presidential terms. Only 31 percent of those surveyed had a positive view of his economic leadership, according to an AP-NORC poll released at the start of December. These numbers represent a nine-point drop from a similar poll in March and mark the lowest approval rating for Trump’s MAGA presidency.
