Rep. Ilhan Omar Calls Trump and Homan 'Sick' Amid Investigation Claims

Ilhan Omar Confronts Trump Administration's Investigation
Embattled Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar has publicly criticized President Donald Trump's Border Czar, Tom Homan, following his announcement that she is under investigation. According to Homan, the Trump administration is accusing one of the president's most vocal critics of committing immigration fraud. "Because they’re sick," Omar, 43, told Independent journalist Nicholas Ballasy when he asked her about Homan's remarks and why the administration would consider opening an investigation.
Before entering an elevator, Omar noted to the journalist that she did not know what was being investigated in connection with her and said that the people in charge of the investigation would “absolutely not” find anything incriminating. Homan's comments about the firebrand congresswoman were made earlier this month during an appearance on Rob Schmitt Tonight.
Allegations and Denials
According to Homan, he was “advised by a fraud investigator the other day" to look into Omar. The claim allegedly stems from President Trump and other members of his inner circle, with no evidence that she married her brother to obtain U.S. citizenship. Omar has vehemently denied the allegation. "You know, there was immigration fraud involved," Homan added.
The statute of limitations became an issue in the last four years when this was first brought up. "Who was president? Who ran [the Department of Justice]?" he added. According to Homan, he had no doubt that fraud was taking place and threatened to deport anyone who was convicted.

Targeted by ICE
Over the weekend, Omar reportedly told a news outlet that she and her family have been targets of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Recounting one instance, the Minnesota rep claimed that her son was targeted by the agency.
Speaking to local CBS affiliate WCCO, Omar alleged that her son was picked up by ICE agents at a Target, who demanded that he show them his passport before being let go. The Department of Homeland Security denied that ICE had yanked the young man and accused Omar of pulling a "PR stunt."

Racial Profiling Concerns
Omar told the outlet that she has had to remind her son about "how worried I am because all of these areas they’re talking about are areas where he can possibly find himself in and they are racially profiling." She added, "They are looking for young men who look Somali, that they think are undocumented."
"My son was born here, so was the young man who was harassed," she added. Omar has repeatedly slammed Trump for his rhetoric on the Somali population of her state.

Trump's Racist Remarks
The president provoked Omar's fury when he called the Somali people in Minnesota "garbage" and deployed federal agents to the state earlier this month. Last week, Trump went one step further, claiming Omar came "over here and tells the United States of America how it should be run."

Strong Words from the President
"We don’t want to hear from her," he added. "I don’t want to hear from her. There’s nothing worse than a person that comes in and does nothing but b**** and comes from a place where she shouldn’t be telling us what to do."
