Trump's ex-wife attends White House event for first time

Marla Maples, the second wife of former President Donald Trump, made a notable appearance at the White House’s Christmas party on Sunday night. This marked her first time attending such an event, which she described as "beautiful" in a video she posted to her Instagram story. In another photo, she was seen with her daughter, Tiffany Trump, and Sarah Shatz, captioned with the message, “love these ladies.”

While this was the first time Maples had attended a White House event, it doesn’t mean she has been absent from the Trump family's life. Earlier in September, she was present at Mar-a-Lago for an event honoring the late TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, and she also spent Thanksgiving with the family.

Maples and Trump met in the 1980s, and she gave birth to their daughter, Tiffany, in October 1993. She shared that Trump proposed to her after the 1993 Long Island Railroad Shooting, which left six people dead. The incident led him to reflect on his life, and they married just two weeks later in December 1993.

The couple eventually separated in May 1997 and finalized their divorce on June 8, 1999. However, in 2024, Maples told The Standard that she and Trump had discussed forgiving each other for past issues. “Anything from the past I’ve forgiven,” she said. “Marriages are challenging, especially when you play them out in the media.”

A representative for Maples was contacted for comment, but no response was received in time for publication.

In addition to her personal life, Maples has been actively involved in promoting Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” campaign. She has been friends with Kennedy for years and expressed her support for his efforts to keep rivers and water clean. After Donald Trump was shot in July 2024, Kennedy reached out to Maples to connect with him.

“We can breathe clean air. We can have our kids running free through the grass, [they] learn how to eat right. They learn how to live with the joy. That’s what I want,” Maples told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). “We say make yourself healthy again.”

The Trump family hosted their annual Christmas Party on Sunday night at the White House. During the event, the family celebrated the engagement of Donald Trump Jr. In a speech to the guests, Trump Jr. admitted he is usually not at a loss for words, as he “rants and raves really well.” However, he said he wanted to express gratitude to his fiancée, Bettina Anderson, for accepting his proposal and called it a “big win for the end of the year.”

Anderson thanked Donald for hosting the event and praised Melania Trump’s Christmas decorations. “This has really been the most unforgettable weekend of my life, and I get to marry the love of my life. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world,” she said.
