HGTV Boss Vows Full Speed Ahead Amid New Show Announcements Despite Fan Concerns
HGTV's 2026 Lineup: A Full-Throttle Return
After a summer filled with uncertainty, HGTV is making a strong statement about its future. Howard Lee, the Chief Creative Officer of US Networks at Warner Bros. Discovery, has confirmed that the network will be "going full steam ahead" in 2026. This promise comes after a period of significant changes, including the cancellation of several fan-favorite shows. However, the network is now set to launch a robust slate of programming for January, signaling a renewed focus on content that delivers both entertainment and ratings.
New Shows and Returning Favorites
One of the most anticipated returns is Zillow Gone Wild, which will return for 16 new episodes. The show, hosted by actor and comedian Jack McBrayer, continues to explore some of the most unusual and imaginative homes on the market. Viewers can expect to meet the unique individuals who have embraced unconventional living spaces, as well as learn about the history and stories behind these properties.
Another returning favorite is Castle Impossible, which will continue its journey in 2026. The show follows renovators Daphne and Ian Fig as they work on restoring Daphne’s late grandfather’s 500-year-old chateau in France. After attracting 14.1 million viewers across linear and streaming platforms during its first season, the second season will focus on expanding their wedding and event businesses to fund the ongoing renovations. Viewers will see the couple tackle pivotal rooms such as a honeymoon suite, a tea salon, a dungeon tavern, and a library, along with restoring the chateau’s gatehouse for Daphne’s grandmother.
In addition to these returning shows, HGTV is introducing a brand-new series called Wild Vacation Rentals. This program will follow actresses and comedians Sherry Cola and D'Arcy Carden as they embark on an epic girls’ trip to explore America’s most extraordinary vacation homes. Over the course of eight half-hour episodes, the duo will visit three of the most enchanting, eccentric, and bizarre rentals in popular destinations. Each episode will culminate in them selecting one "must stay" property.

The show promises to take viewers to places they never imagined, from caves and bird’s nests to missile silos and old western towns. Sherry and D'Arcy will share hilarious reviews, incredible stories from the property owners, and showcase the unique designs and quirks of each rental.
A Stronger Lineup for 2026
The new lineup also includes the return of Home Town, Ugliest House in America, and Cheap A$$ Beach House, all of which will debut with nearly 40 new episodes in the new year. These shows were part of a larger announcement that came weeks after HGTV made the decision to cancel several other popular programs, including Bargain Block, Married to Real Estate, Farmhouse Fixer, Izzy Does It, Christina on the Coast, The Flipping El Moussas, and Battle on the Beach.
Despite these cancellations, the network is clearly focused on delivering fresh and exciting content for its audience. With a mix of returning favorites and new shows, HGTV is setting the stage for what looks to be a dynamic 2026.
