Ebro Darden Accuses Drake and DJ Akademiks of Being "Right-Wing"

In a recent episode of The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show, radio host and podcaster Ebro Darden has taken a strong stance against rapper Drake and his close associate, DJ Akademiks. He claims that both are aligned with right-wing ideologies, a statement that has sparked significant debate and discussion.

Ebro referenced a tweet he posted where he accused Drake and Akademiks of being right-wing. During the show, he highlighted an incident where Drake left a comment under a post about Ebro's morning show being canceled, which included an axe emoji. "Because I got 'axed,' and I said that's because Drake is right-wing and so is Sack," Ebro explained. He referred to Akademiks as "Sack" and noted that he openly campaigned for Donald Trump.

Peter Rosenberg, co-host of the show, added that Akademiks has been seen interacting with conservative figures, including visits to Mar-A-Lago and appearances on the controversial streaming platform Rumble. Rosenberg also mentioned that Drake has been on podcasts with individuals who have supported Trump, such as Adin Ross.

Despite these accusations, there have been community notes suggesting that Drake has not firmly aligned himself with one political side. These notes pointed out that he has supported left-wing causes, such as writing an open letter about the police killing of Alton Sterling in 2016 or calling Trump a "f**king idiot" during a concert in 2018.

Rosenberg pushed back against Ebro’s claim, stating that it was an oversimplification to label Drake as right-wing. He acknowledged that Drake has participated in initiatives that do not align with right-wing values, such as being on the artists for ceasefire list. However, Ebro countered by pointing out that even far-right figure Marjorie Taylor Greene has been on a ceasefire list, yet she is clearly associated with right-wing politics.

Following the cancellation of Ebro in the Morning on Hot 97, Drake made a sassy comment in the form of an axe emoji on a post about the news. Rosenberg suggested that Drake might be celebrating what he saw as the "demise" of Ebro, Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez. Ebro later revealed that he received some intense direct messages from Drake, including a message that read, "Die slower pussy," and another that said, "We got some s**t for u."

Later in the podcast, Rosenberg speculated that it was "Trumpy" of Drake and his team to accuse Kendrick Lamar of buying streams for his diss track, "Not Like Us." Ebro reiterated his belief that Drake is right-wing, noting that he has never publicly stated his political stance. He also recalled a moment when Drake used his white mother to advise him not to use the n-word on a beef record, only for Drake to use it immediately, highlighting the sensitivity around the term.

Ebro emphasized that the n-word is not universally accepted among Black communities and is considered a slur. He shared his personal experience of not using the word in front of his daughter, stressing its negative connotations. He also mentioned that Drake's use of the term during a conversation about slavery was particularly problematic.
