Candace Owens Refused Water During Erika Kirk Confrontation

Candace Owens, a well-known conservative media personality, recently shared an unusual detail about her first meeting with Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA). During their initial conversation, Owens revealed she "didn’t drink water" because she was nervous about what might happen.
The meeting took place after the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk in September. He had founded TPUSA in 2012, a movement that has become influential in the conservative youth community. Owens, who had a long-standing friendship with Kirk, has previously expressed various conspiracy theories suggesting that Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of killing Kirk, wasn't the sole perpetrator.
Instead, Owens has claimed without evidence that countries like Israel, France, and Egypt may have been involved in the murder. She also suggested that Kirk had been betrayed by those around him.
A Productive Conversation
On Monday, Owens and Erika met for a 4 1/2-hour discussion focused on the events surrounding Kirk’s death. The meeting was seen as a significant step in addressing the lingering questions and conspiracy theories that have surrounded the case.
Owens, along with her husband and cousin, met with Erika and Justin Streiff, COO of TPUSA. The goal of the meeting was to provide clarity and address the concerns Owens had raised over the years.
Despite the extended conversation, Owens left the meeting still unconvinced that Robinson was the sole person responsible for Kirk's death.
Unconvinced and Unsettled
In her first podcast following the meeting, Owens shared her thoughts with her audience. She admitted she was nervous about interacting with Erika and even mentioned not drinking water, citing concerns about being poisoned.
Her comments sparked reactions from X users, with some questioning the logic behind her behavior. One user wrote, "Lol...she really pretending she was afraid Erika might poison her? What is the point of this statement," while another said, "This is the kind of ridiculous behavior that only gets exposed by getting Erika and Candace together."
Owens stated that one of the main points of the meeting was to reaffirm the belief that Robinson shot Kirk during his speech at Utah Valley University on September 10.
“I was hoping to hear that, and I said that I want to hear why people feel so confident at Turning Point USA that Tyler Robinson is the guy,” she said.
Evidence and Doubts
During the meeting, TPUSA provided Owens with call logs from Charlie’s chief of staff, Mike McCoy, and an attorney was available to answer her questions. However, Owens claimed that when she asked for evidence linking Robinson to the shooting, Erika chose to involve the lawyer.
What Owens heard from the attorney left her skeptical. “What I got from the lawyer did not make me feel that Tyler Robinson shot Charlie Kirk, does not make me feel confident that he didn't or did shoot Charlie Kirk. I was very surprised by this,” she said.
Owens added that the lawyer would not confirm that they had footage of Robinson “taking the shot” that killed Kirk. She described what they showed her as “fake.”
“He said that they have nothing but the affidavit. So what you have, what we have seen, is what they have.”
Owens also noted that TPUSA did not have access to any inside information or unseen evidence related to the investigation.
“With that in mind, I’m sitting here going, why is the public being gaslit on this?” she questioned.
Ongoing Theories
Despite the meeting, Owens continues to speculate that Israel has a connection to Kirk’s murder. However, Israeli officials have denied any involvement in the case.
Erika Kirk’s only public comment regarding the meeting was an X post from Monday night:
'Had a very productive conversation with @RealCandaceO. More to come from both of us. Looking forward to AmFest this week. Time to get back to work.'
Owens also made an X post, calling the conversation “extremely productive.”
“We agreed much more than I anticipated. Of course, we also disagreed on various points and people as well. Most importantly, we were able to share intel and clarify intent,” she wrote.
