Samsung's Micro RGB TVs Take on LG at CES 2026

Samsung Expands Micro RGB TV Lineup for CES 2026

Just one day after LG announced its first-ever Micro RGB TV for CES 2026, Samsung has made its own move in the high-end television market. The company is set to unveil its new Micro RGB TV at the event and will offer it in a range of screen sizes, including as small as 55 inches. This expansion is expected to make the technology more accessible to consumers who may not have the space for larger models.

According to information shared with Tom’s Guide, Samsung plans to expand its Micro RGB lineup beyond the single 115-inch model introduced in August. The new lineup will include 55-, 65-, 75-, 85- and 100-inch screens. This variety could allow more households to bring what might be one of the best TVs of 2026 into their living rooms.

In addition to the expanded screen sizes, Samsung has introduced a multi-agentic AI experience that supports features such as Live Translate, Generative Wallpaper, and Perplexity. These enhancements aim to provide a more interactive and personalized viewing experience.

The War for Picture-Perfect Color is Heating Up

Samsung and LG's Micro RGB technology operates similarly — both use arrays of sub-100μm red, green, and blue LEDs to produce higher color volumes than traditional LED-LCD screens. Despite different branding, the underlying technology is quite similar.

Color volume is measured by the percentage of the BT.2020 wide color gamut covered. Samsung claims its Micro RGB TVs will cover 100% of this gamut, a claim verified by an independent testing organization called VDE. In simpler terms, Micro RGB TVs are expected to deliver more vivid colors that were previously difficult to achieve on Mini-LED screens.

However, the cost of these TVs is likely to be steep. For example, Hisense's $15,000 110UX model suggests that Micro RGB TVs may not be affordable for most consumers.

A CES for the Ages

If you're keeping track, Samsung and LG are now among the brands that have announced plans to debut Micro RGB TVs in 2026. Sony has also joined the fray, though no details about its offerings have been released yet.

Hisense actually showcased its version of this technology, called RGB-MiniLED, at CES 2025. The brand has already brought TVs to market in 100- and 116-inch sizes earlier this year. It's likely that we'll hear more from Hisense about this technology soon.

So how will Samsung, LG, Hisense, and Sony differentiate themselves in a market that previously had little competition? Samsung claims its Micro RGB TVs will feature Glare-Free technology similar to what was seen on the Samsung S95F OLED and support for Eclipsa Audio, a new Dolby Atmos rival.

At just 55 inches, Samsung’s model could be the first to offer a balance between next-generation performance and a reasonable price point. While these additional features are promising, my main concern is that Micro RGB TVs are simply too large and expensive for most people, especially in today’s economic climate.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to confirm this until 2026 when the prices are officially announced. Until then, we’ll have to wait for the opportunity to see the new TVs firsthand when we arrive in Vegas next year.
