Taylor Swift's 'Life of a Showgirl' CD Pre-Order Now Live at Target

Exclusive CD Editions Available for Pre-Order
Three unique "only at Target" CD editions of Taylor Swift's The Life of a Showgirl album are now available for pre-order on Target's website. These special releases are available while supplies last and will be delivered on October 3, the official release date of the album, or shortly after.
Each of the three CDs comes with a 19" x 9.5" double-sided, folded poster featuring Taylor Swift, which is exclusive to each edition. Additionally, every CD includes an alternate album cover in one of three themes: "It's Frightening," "It's Rapturous," and "It's Beautiful." These covers were first introduced during a limited pre-sale on Swift’s webstore, which sold out quickly. Instead of the exclusive poster, the webstore’s limited-edition CDs included photo cards and jewelry.
For those who prefer in-person purchases, select U.S. Target store locations will have the three Target-exclusive CDs available starting at midnight local time on October 3. A list of participating stores is available on Target's website, organized by state.
Additional Limited Edition Releases
In addition to the Target-exclusive and webstore-exclusive CD variants of The Life of a Showgirl, Taylor Swift’s webstore previously launched pre-orders for three sets of limited edition vinyl variants of her upcoming 12th studio album. These special editions include:
- "Shiny Bug" – pressed on wintergreen onyx and violet shimmer discs
- "Baby, That's Show Business" – on lovely bouquet orange and lakeside beach blue discs
- "Tiny Bubbles in Champagne" – on under bright lights pearlescent and red lipstick & lace discs
These vinyl editions quickly sold out, and no copies remain available for purchase. Fans interested in future webstore releases can stay updated through Taylor Swift’s email list.
Announcement and Creative Collaboration
Details about The Life of a Showgirl were officially revealed by Taylor Swift herself on August 12 via the podcast New Heights, co-hosted by her fiancé Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce. During the episode, the album’s main cover, its 12-song tracklist, and its release date of October 3 were announced.
Swift reunited with longtime producers Max Martin and Shellback for this project during the European leg of The Eras Tour. She described her main goal as creating melodies that are so infectious, they might make listeners "almost angry at it." The trio first worked together during the 2012 Red era, contributing to hits like "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "I Knew You Were Trouble." Their collaboration expanded further on 2014’s 1989 ("Shake It Off," "Blank Space") and 2016’s Reputation ("…Ready for It?" and "End Game").
Follow-Up to Previous Release
The Life of a Showgirl follows Swift’s eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, released in 2024. The album held the No. 1 position on the DISCOVER TRENDS200 chart for a total of 17 weeks.
