Powerball Jackpot Winners Across the United States

A Powerball ticket sold in Kansas recently won $2 million, as two other tickets across the U.S. successfully matched the winning numbers to claim a massive $1.787 billion jackpot. This win marked one of the largest lottery jackpots in U.S. history and was celebrated by winners from multiple states.

The winning numbers for the drawing on Saturday, September 6, were 11, 23, 44, 61, and 62, with a Powerball of 17. The Power Play multiplier was set at 2x. Tickets sold in Missouri and Texas matched all five white balls and the Powerball, but not the Power Play multiplier, resulting in each winner receiving an annuitized prize of $893.5 million or a lump sum payment of $410.3 million.

In Kansas, one ticket matched five winning numbers and the Power Play multiplier but missed the Powerball, earning the player $2 million. Another Kansas ticket won $1 million, while a third ticket won $50,000. A similar win occurred in Texas, where another ticket also matched five numbers and the Power Play multiplier, securing a $2 million prize.

Several other states saw players match five winning numbers without the Powerball, resulting in $1 million prizes. These states included Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, and West Virginia. In California, where prize amounts are adjusted based on the number of tickets sold and winners, two players each received $1.5 million.

Additionally, 232 players across the country matched four numbers and the Powerball to win $50,000 each. An additional 90 players added the Power Play multiplier to receive $100,000 each.

Powerball Jackpot Resets

After this massive win, the Powerball jackpot resets to an estimated $20 million, with a cash value of about $9.2 million for the next drawing scheduled for Monday, September 8. More than 9.9 million other Powerball tickets in the U.S. also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000.

This was the second time the Powerball jackpot had been claimed this year. On May 31, a California player won the $204.5 million grand prize.
