The Return of Camp Rock

It's time to dust off your keyboard and prepare for a new musical adventure. The third installment of the beloved Disney Channel Original Movie franchise, Camp Rock 3, is officially in production. The Jonas Brothers have confirmed their return to reprise their iconic roles, bringing back the magic that made the original series a hit.

Disney Branded Television announced on September 17 that filming has begun for the upcoming film. While a specific release date has not been revealed yet, it is expected to debut on Disney+ as well as air on the Disney Channel. Fans are already buzzing with excitement about what this new chapter will bring.

A New Musical Journey

The original Camp Rock introduced audiences to Mitchie Torres, portrayed by Demi Lovato, a talented singer who gets the chance to attend the famous music camp. Her mother, played by Maria Canals-Barrera, takes on a role as the camp’s caterer, which Mitchie initially keeps hidden out of embarrassment. Meanwhile, Shane Gray, played by Joe Jonas, is sent to the camp to rediscover his passion for music. His journey leads him to meet Mitchie, sparking a romantic connection and a deep love for music.

In the sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, Mitchie and Shane return to Camp Rock, only to face a new challenge from the rival camp, Camp Star. This time, the stakes are higher as they compete in a high-stakes music competition.

The third movie promises more musical drama and excitement. Directed by Veronica Rodriguez, known for The Slumber Party, and written by Eydie Faye, the film follows Connect 3 as they return to Camp Rock to find new talent for their tour's opening act. However, as the competition intensifies, friendships are tested, and unexpected talents emerge.

Who's Back and Who's New?

Joe Jonas is set to reprise his role as Shane Gray, while Nick and Kevin Jonas will return as Nate and Jason Gray, members of the band Connect 3. Maria Canals-Barrera will also return, continuing her role as Mitchie’s mother. Other familiar faces include actors Liamani Segura, Malachi Barton, Lumi Pollack, Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter, Brooklynn Pitts, and Ava Jean.

Sherry Cola, known for her role in Nobody Wants This, is also joining the cast. On September 17, the Jonas Brothers shared a video from the Camp Rock 3 set, paying homage to a moment from the first film.

Will Demi Lovato Be Back?

Demi Lovato is not listed as part of the main cast, but she will serve as an executive producer alongside the Jonas Brothers. In a recent Instagram post, she expressed her excitement, writing, “Another one but make it camp!! Good luck to this next class of campers.”

Lovato and the Jonas Brothers recently reunited for a Camp Rock-inspired performance during the Jonas20 anniversary tour. The singer performed "This Is Me" from the original film and "Wouldn't Change a Thing" from the sequel.

What Else Do We Know?

Joe Jonas had previously mentioned his interest in creating a Camp Rock sequel in a 2017 interview with Marie Claire. He suggested the possibility of a darker, more mature take on the story, though he clarified it wouldn’t be an adult film.

The franchise was accidentally teased by the Jonas Brothers during an episode of Hot Ones. When Joe was asked to read a note from his Notes app, it read, “Read Camp Rock 3.” After some nervous laughter, he added, “Sorry, Disney.”

With the return of the Jonas Brothers and the promise of new musical moments, fans are eagerly anticipating what Camp Rock 3 will bring. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the series, this film is sure to deliver another unforgettable chapter of music, friendship, and self-discovery.
