Disney officially renews hit Marvel series for another season

The Return of Daredevil: Born Again
Marvel Studios has made a significant move in the world of streaming by officially greenlighting a third season of Daredevil: Born Again. This decision marks a major shift for live-action Marvel series on Disney+, which have typically not been renewed for multiple seasons. While animated shows like Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and What If...? have enjoyed multiple seasons, live-action adaptations have had a harder time securing continued support. However, Loki was an exception, and now Daredevil: Born Again is following in its footsteps.
The second season of Daredevil: Born Again has already wrapped filming and is set to be released in March 2026. But even before that, fans are already looking ahead to what’s next. During an interview with IGN, Brad Winderbaum, Head of Streaming, Television and Animation at Marvel Studios, confirmed that Season 3 has been greenlit and will begin shooting in 2026. This news aligns with reports that both Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio—playing Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, respectively—have signed contracts for at least three seasons. There's also speculation that the show could continue beyond Season 3, depending on the reception of Season 2.
A New Creative Direction
The first season of Daredevil: Born Again received positive reviews, but it was shaped by two different creative visions. Originally, the show was intended as a complete reboot, separate from the Netflix series. This meant characters like Foggy Nelson and Karen Page would not appear, and Vanessa Fisk was initially cast with Sandrine Holt instead of Ayelet Zurer. However, during production, the show underwent a creative reboot, leading to a new team taking over and integrating existing footage with new scenes to create a more cohesive follow-up to the Netflix series.
This approach won’t be repeated for Season 2. The second season was created from scratch by the new creative team, giving fans a clearer vision of where the show is headed. The connections to the Netflix adaptation will only grow stronger, with iconic locations like Fogwell’s Gym expected to return. Beloved characters such as Jessica Jones may also make appearances, and there are rumors that all of the Defenders could return for Season 2. However, some storylines might be saved for future seasons, given the show’s long-term potential.
Future Plans for the Man Without Fear
Brad Winderbaum has previously stated that Daredevil: Born Again is intended to have indefinite annual releases. This plan is clearly coming to fruition, with Season 3 expected to be released in March 2027. Fans were initially concerned about the future of Matt Murdock after Charlie Cox referred to Season 2 as “the final season.” However, the confirmation of Season 3 has eased those fears, and there’s even room for more seasons to come.
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again will be released on March 2026, marking another step forward for the series. With the success of the first season and the promise of a strong second season, the future of Daredevil: Born Again looks brighter than ever. As the show continues to evolve, fans can expect deeper connections to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and more thrilling adventures for Matt Murdock.
