About 35% to 40% of centers in Alabama now offer enhanced platforms that allow users to send live video streams or photos to dispatchers. From January to July 2025, over 82,000 texts were sent through the text to 911 system. Of these, approximately 21,000 were initiated by individuals seeking help, while the remaining 61,000 were messages from dispatchers assisting in emergency calls.

These numbers highlight the growing reliance on text to 911 as a critical component of Alabama’s emergency response system. As more people become aware of this service, it is expected to play an even greater role in saving lives and providing support during emergencies.
