Man Arrested in Canon City for Suspected Child Sex Solicitation

Arrest of Cañon City Man on Charges Involving Minors
A man from Cañon City has been taken into custody on suspicion of attempting to solicit children for sexual purposes. Travis Beauman, 38, was arrested on Tuesday and faces multiple charges including Internet sexual exploitation of a child, Internet luring of a child, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, indecent exposure, and harassment.
According to an affidavit, a juvenile disclosed to her mother that an adult male, later identified as Beauman, had sent her inappropriate messages and images. The incident occurred around the end of June when the child saw Beauman at an adult league softball game at Rouse Park, which is part of the Cañon City Area Recreation and Park District. He allegedly sent her a friend request on Snapchat in the middle of the night.
Beauman reportedly referred to himself as “daddy” to the victim and requested photos of her while sending unsolicited pictures of himself. During court advisements, District Attorney Jeff Lindsey mentioned that six juveniles in this case have asked for protection orders against Beauman. He also requested the court to deviate from the low Colorado Pretrial Assessment Tool score, which suggested a personal recognizance bond along with pre-trial supervision.
Lindsey requested a $5,000 cash-only bond, protection orders for the six juveniles, and a prohibition from any property belonging to the Cañon City Area Recreation and Park District. He emphasized that Beauman poses a risk to community safety, particularly to young teenage girls. He noted that the conversations between Beauman and the alleged victims showed a high level of manipulation.
The affidavit also revealed that Beauman was following 25 TikTok accounts of girls aged 8 to 14, many of whom are in the same friend group as the victims. One of the victims’ mothers addressed the court during the advisements, stating that her daughter is not the first victim and likely won’t be the last.
The Cañon City Area Recreation and Park District became aware of Beauman’s arrest on Tuesday afternoon. He was employed by the district as a part-time umpire in the adult softball program since April 30. The district stated that Beauman never worked at a youth sporting event and that the public was never at risk. They advised adult softball participants to speak with their children about the situation and contact Detective K. Roquemore if they have concerns.
Since learning of Beauman’s arrest, the district has terminated his employment. On Wednesday, Magistrate Claire LeBeau imposed a $2,500 PR bond, issued protection orders for the six juveniles, prohibited Beauman from having contact with anyone under 18, and restricted him from the Recreation District properties. Beauman is scheduled to return for the filing of charges on July 30.
