Center Line Public Library

The Center Line Public Library offers a variety of programs for different age groups. For infants and toddlers, there is a Baby and Toddler Play Group held every Tuesday at 11 a.m. This event allows children up to 36 months old and their caregivers to engage in stories, songs, and play. Additionally, the library hosts Storytime on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and Thursdays at 5 p.m. These sessions include stories and crafts for children aged 0 to 5, with no registration required.

Clinton-Macomb Public Library

The Clinton-Macomb Public Library (CMPL) has several upcoming events. The Macomb Library for the Blind’s (MLBPD) Vision Network will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on September 9 at the Main Branch. For children aged 8-12, the Main Library will host a kindness crafts event on September 11 at 4:30 p.m. Registration is required and can be done by calling 586-226-5030. On September 16, there will be a workshop on Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz at the Main Library at 3:30 p.m. This immersive experience explores the rich tradition of Hispanic Golden Age Drama through the lens of this iconic 17th-century Mexican playwright. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to the South Branch on September 20 at 3:30 p.m. for a donut diorama challenge. CMPL will provide the food and prompts, and teens get to build. Registration is required and can be done by calling 586-226-5030.

This fall, CMPL is offering a new reading challenge for adults called Reader’s Choice, running from September 1 to December 31. There are two reading prompts per month. Participants can choose their favorite option, check out a title, and enjoy. Completing one badge each month (at least 4 titles) will finish the challenge. Eastpointe Public Library

Eastpointe Public Library has a range of events planned. The Spice Club will take place at 2 p.m. on September 9. Soil Testing in the Courtyard will be held at 10 a.m. on September 13. Safety September: Personal Awareness will occur at noon on September 13. Kids LEGO Build Day is scheduled for 4 p.m. on September 17. Book Into a Movie will be at 4 p.m. on September 18. Fire Safety will be at noon on September 20.

The library also has an ongoing canned food drive where non-perishable foods can be dropped off during open hours. The library is open to the public and offers curbside service and phone reference service during regular hours. Patrons can place holds on items through the catalog or call to request materials.

Fraser Public Library

Fraser Public Library has several events planned. The Mysteries and Munchies Book Club will meet on September 11 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The selection is “Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers” by Jesse Q. Sutanto. Family Game Night will be held on September 17 from 5-8 p.m. Bring your own games or borrow one of theirs, have some snacks, and enjoy a night of fun. Movie Night: Inside Out 2 will be shown on September 20 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. It is a family film outside on the lawn, so bring your chairs and blankets. The movie is rated PG.

Harrison Township Public Library

Harrison Township Public Library has several events planned. Teen Diamond Dot Painting will take place at 6 p.m. on September 10 for teens only. Adult Craft Night: Open Book Vases will be at 6 p.m. on September 11, where participants will make vases using upcycled books and faux flowers. Music and Movement with Music Maker Marge will be at 10 a.m. on September 11, 18, and 25. Tales with Tails will be at 5 p.m. on September 17, allowing children to practice reading with a trained therapy dog, Bailey.

Residents can request materials to be delivered to their homes. Once notified that materials are ready for pickup, contact the library at 586-329-1261 to set up a delivery time.

MacDonald Public Library

MacDonald Public Library has several events planned. Teen DIY Stickers will be at 4:30 p.m. on September 9. A Blood Drive with the Red Cross will take place from noon-6 p.m. on September 10. The Librarian’s List Book Club will meet at 2 p.m. on September 11 with the book “Head Cases” by John McMahon. Saturday Storytime will be at 10 a.m. on September 13. Toddler and Preschool Storytime will be at 10 a.m. on September 16. Teen Advisory Council will be at 4:30 p.m. on September 16.

Mount Clemens Public Library

Mount Clemens Public Library has several events planned. Downton Abbey Tea Party will be held from 6-7 p.m. on September 10. Registration is required. Fall Craft Make or Take will be from 10:15 a.m.-1:45 p.m. on September 13. Let’s Talk, Read and Sing MISD Playgroup will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on September 13, 20, and 27. Registration is required. Candy Sushi will be from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on September 20. Resume review will be from 4-7 p.m. Mondays. Bring your resume to adult services for a resume review. Romeo Graubner Library

Romeo Graubner Library has several events planned. Online Account Security will be at 2 p.m. on September 11. Trying to get a handle on your accounts and devices? Simplify user names, passwords and logins for your various accounts. Bring your personal devices to learn “hands-on” about security tools. Registration is required. Financial Emergencies will be at 7 p.m. on September 16. Learn to plan for a potential financial emergency and learn strategies for coping with any ongoing financial difficulties. No registration is required. Teen Game Night will be at 6 p.m. on September 17. Teens in grades 6-12 can play a variety of board games. If you would like to bring card games like Magic: The Gathering or play a quick game of Dungeons and Dragons, we’ll provide the space and you bring your things! Registration is not required. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Romeo Kezar Library

Romeo Kezar Library has several events planned. Crochet Club will be at 5:30 p.m. on September 9 and 16. Crochet beginners to experts, knitters and other needle workers too. Join our circle and work on projects. Fall Cozy Storytime will be at 11:30 on September 11. Join Ms. Jeanette and her young friends for stories, songs, shakers, rhymes, and a craft at the end. Roseville Public Library

Roseville Public Library has several events planned. Outdoor Storytime will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on September 8 and 22. Kids ages 0 to 5 and their adults can gather on the lawn as Miss Amanda reads stories, shares songs, and leads interactive activities that spark imagination and creativity. Mini and Me Outdoors will be from 10-11 a.m. on September 19. A drop-in social and play program for children five and under and their grown-ups. Children will get a chance to play and socialize with others their age, while the adults get to network and trade stories and tips.

The Witch of Delray will be at 1-2 p.m. on September 9 at the Roseville Senior Center. Those ages 50 and up. Karen Dybis will discuss the true crime story behind her 2017 book “The Witch of Delray,” the true story of Rose Veres. Bundles for children. Fill in the form on the website, social media or in the newsletter and choose up to three topics or themes and a librarian will put together five books and place them on hold for you to pick up. St. Clair Shores Public Library

The youth services department, with the help of grant funding, has created 14 explorer packs for children and families to check out. Each pack contains learning tools, non-fiction books, activity sheets, identification guides and other manipulatives centered on an outdoor activity. Topics include insects, bird watching, astronomy water, hiking, plants and rocks. To check out an Explorer pack or for more information, ask at the Youth Services Desk.

Shelby Township Public Library

Tech talks will be held at 10 a.m. Mondays. Tech librarian covers popular topics in the technology world for beginners and those wanting to learn a little more. Sterling Heights Public Library

Sterling Heights Public Library has several events planned. Love to write about your favorite characters? Have original fiction you’d like to share? Submit your work to the Youth Services desk by October 1 for judge feedback and a chance to win great prizes. Library cardholders can reserve a time to use the Maker’s Space by appointment. Look for Maker Space Lab on the program calendar. Biblio Book Box offered for adults and Teen Book Box for teens offered every month. Register and a librarian will pick a book based on user’s preferences and include a surprise.

Toddler Time and preschool storytimes are both offered at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays. Registration is required. Check the library calendar for full details. PAWS for Reading 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays. The first 10 children to check in at the youth desk on Tuesday nights will be able to read to a therapy dog. The Upton House is open for self-guided tours from 1-4 p.m. every Wednesday and second Sunday of the month. Register up to six people in a household. Registration only required for Wednesdays.

Sterling Heights Public Library will continue curbside materials service, phone service, and home delivery/outreach service on Monday – Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 1-5 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, 24/7 digital library services are available at shpl.net.

Warren Public Libraries

All Warren public library branches will be able to offer a telescope for patrons to check out with a valid library card thanks to being selected to be part of NASA @ My Library, an education initiative to increase and enhance science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) opportunities for library patrons. The Warren Civic Center library will offer telescope events throughout the year as well.

Warren Burnette Branch Library Too Many Tomatoes Canning Basics will be at 6 p.m. on September 9. MSU Extension Food Safety Educator, Sophia Zollner, will explain how to preserve tomatoes to enjoy year round, as well as show canning equipment and talk about canning and food safety topics. Registration is required.

Spy School Teen Game Night will be at 6:30 on September 16. Teens and tweens ages 10-17 can create a code name and a secret identity, crack codes, test their observation skills, and defeat a laser maze in this spy-filled game night. Registration is required.

Warren Busch Branch Library Grab-and-Go Science at Busch Branch Library has science themed kits available for checkout exploring topics in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with fun and kid-friendly hands on activities. Each kit also contains a related book and instructions. For children, tweens and teens ages six and up, recommended ages vary by kit and activity. More kits will be added to the collection soon. They can be checked out for 21 days and renewed up to two times and must be checked out and returned to the Busch Branch.

Warren Civic Center Library Portable Pond Ecology will be at 2 p.m. on September 13. Kids 5-11 can join Randy Baker for this hands-on activity as he brings the ponds to us! Get ready to be a scientist, get your hands wet, and find the creatures that live in our wetland habitats. Registration is required.

Children’s Book Boxes, a subscription box program for children in grades 3-5. To sign up you must live in Warren and have a valid Warren Library card. Each box will contain 1-2 library books selected based on your preferences and one free book to keep. Boxes will contain fun surprises too! Sign up online at warrenlibrary.net/childrens-book-boxes.

PAWS To Read 5-6 p.m. Wednesdays. Children of all ages can read to therapy dog Desmond. The PAWS program welcomes new and struggling readers to read to a certified therapy dog. The goal is to provide a non-judgmental atmosphere in which kids can read without correction or interruption and learn not just to read, but to love reading as well. No registration required.

All Macomb County libraries, as part of the Suburban Library Cooperative, subscribe to RB Digital which has over 100 digital magazines that can be checked out immediately. They also offer educational services through Tutor.com, which provides homework help, test preparation and term paper and resume review. Students can use their student ID number to access those services.
