Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari this season was driven by more than just professional ambition—he had a dream of securing an eighth world championship title. While his debut season with the Maranello-based team has come with its challenges, his personal collection tells a different story. It shows that he has always been captivated by the allure of red cars, even before stepping into the Ferrari cockpit.

The Cars That Defined His Collection

Hamilton's Ferrari collection includes some of the most exclusive and high-performance models ever produced. Among them is the LaFerrari, a hybrid supercar that combines a 6.3-liter V12 engine with an electric motor, producing a total of 963 horsepower. Launched between 2013 and 2016, it competed against the Porsche 918 and McLaren P1. Hamilton acquired his Rosso Fuoco (deep red) model during the 2015 season while still racing for Mercedes.

Following the LaFerrari, Hamilton added the LaFerrari Aperta to his collection. This open-top version was limited to just 210 units produced between 2016 and 2018. Unlike the standard model, the Aperta featured minor aerodynamic modifications and a removable Targa roof. Hamilton owned a pearlescent white version, which he purchased in 2018.

His first Ferrari, the 599 GTO, was a milestone in his collection. Powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine that delivered 670 horsepower, the 599 GTO was the seven-time world champion’s first Ferrari. However, instead of the traditional red, he opted for a black version. He sold it in 2017, marking the end of an era.

Hamilton then moved on to the 599 SA Aperta, an even rarer variant of the 599 series. Only 80 units were made, and the Targa-style roof gave it a distinctive look. As a used car, it could be worth over $1 million if found in good condition.

Beyond Ferrari: A Diverse Car Collection

While Ferrari was a central theme in Hamilton’s collection, he also owned several other high-profile vehicles. These included the Mercedes-AMG Project One, a hypercar inspired by Formula One technology, the Mercedes-AMG G63 6×6, a rugged off-road vehicle, and the 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, a classic American muscle car. He also owned the legendary 1995 McLaren F1, one of the most powerful sports cars of its time, and a special edition Pagani Zonda 760 LH.

However, recent changes in his life led Hamilton to make a surprising decision—selling off his entire car collection. In an interview, he shared:

“I don’t have any cars anymore. I got rid of all my cars. I’m more into art nowadays.”

Despite this, he revealed that there’s one car he would still consider owning: the Ferrari F40. The F40 was the last model approved by Enzo Ferrari himself and marked a significant milestone in automotive history. With a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 478 horsepower and 426 lb-ft of torque, it was the first production car to exceed 200 mph.
