A Multi-Talented Star and Her Remarkable Family

Julianne Hough is a prime example of a multi-hyphenate individual. Starting her journey as a dancer, she gained fame by winning the first two seasons of "Dancing with the Stars." However, her time on the show was far from over. Her transformation leading up to Season 34 left fans in awe, showcasing her growth into a quadruple threat—actor, singer, television host, and dancer.

Born in Utah, Julianne was the youngest of five siblings. The Hough family is known for their talent, with her brother Derek also making a name for himself as a champion and judge on "Dancing with the Stars" and a host on "Extra." During a 2025 appearance on the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast, Julianne shared that the family was raised Mormon and involved in numerous extracurricular activities. She mentioned that her three older sisters were dancers, singers, and actors, and the entire family was part of a band. As they grew, each sibling took different paths, but the family's bond remained strong.

One notable trait among the Hough siblings is their striking resemblance. They all share similar features, including their beautiful smiles and natural blond hair. In photos, it can be challenging to tell which siblings are the oldest. While Julianne and Derek have been in the spotlight more, the other siblings are equally impressive and beautiful.

The Oldest Sibling: Sharee Hough

Sharee Hough, the eldest at 48, has always been a central figure in the family. Julianne mentioned during the podcast that Sharee started her life in the Mormon way, marrying at 19 and having six children. Sharee also had a passion for dance, training at the Ballet West Conservatory and performing as a ballerina with the American Folk Ballet Company. After raising her children, she shifted her focus to health and fitness, becoming a certified instructor and founding Hough Werks to offer fitness lessons.

Sharee’s love for her family is evident. In August 2020, she posted a heartwarming photo on Instagram of the Hough siblings together, captioning it, “We may fight sometimes, disagree on issues sometimes, but I love these humans fiercely.” This sentiment reflects the deep connection within the family.

Marabeth Poole: A Doppelgänger of Julianne

Marabeth Poole, 44, is the second oldest of the Hough siblings. On the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast, Julianne revealed that Marabeth moved to Nashville to pursue a career as a singer and songwriter. However, she now balances her life as a mom, realtor, and certified holistic health coach. She once owned a spa called Natural Oasis Day Spa and Salon with her husband, though it has since closed.

Marabeth and Julianne often get mistaken for twins. In 2008, they met at a music performance in Nashville, and in 2014, there was a mix-up where Marabeth was mistakenly identified as Julianne in a Life & Style Magazine photo. Despite this, Marabeth shares a striking resemblance with Julianne throughout her life, even competing in a local competition called Dancing with the Nashville Stars.

Katherine Hough: Balancing Business and Motherhood

Katherine Hough, the middle daughter at 43, runs her own skincare treatment center called Skin by Katherine. During the podcast, Julianne shared that Katherine initially dreamed of acting but found her true calling in esthetics. In 2020, she expressed gratitude for her career path on Instagram, stating, “I'm so very grateful for the career path I have chosen and where it has brought me!!”

Katherine is known for experimenting with different hair colors, transitioning from the family's iconic blond to brown seamlessly. Alongside her career, she is a devoted mother to three daughters. Tragically, she faced loss when her partner, Tony Schnur, passed away from glioblastoma in 2023. She now uses her platform to advocate for glioblastoma research and awareness.

A Strong Family Bond

Despite living apart during their childhood, the Hough siblings maintain an unbreakable bond. Following their parents' divorce, Julianne and Derek lived in London to study dance. Julianne shared on the podcast how close she and Derek were due to their shared experiences. Meanwhile, her three older sisters grew up as a unit, while Julianne felt somewhat outside of that dynamic because of her age and time away from home.

All of the siblings have become mothers, with Julianne enjoying her single life. Despite their different careers and interests, they remain supportive of one another. Julianne noted there is no jealousy, only a sense of sadness that her older sisters didn’t have the same opportunities as performers. However, they all appreciate each other’s lives and continue to support one another.

Julianne even shared the stage with her older sisters during her breakout role in the 2011 remake of "Footloose," highlighting the family’s enduring connection.
