IronPigs Update: Painter, Miller & More Ahead of 2025 Finale

Lehigh Valley IronPigs Make Key Moves Ahead of Final Season Series
As the 2025 season for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs comes to a close, the team has been busy with several roster changes and standout performances from its players. With the final series of the year on the horizon, the IronPigs have seen some notable developments that highlight the depth and talent within their organization.
Felix Reyes Shines in Triple-A Debut
One of the most exciting stories this season has been the performance of INF/OF Felix Reyes, who dominated the Eastern League with a .335 batting average. His success earned him the league’s batting title, finishing 29 points ahead of the next player. Reyes made his Triple-A debut against the Syracuse Mets, where he quickly made an impact.
In his second at-bat, Reyes recorded his first hit—a hard grounder to right field. Later in the game, he hit his first Triple-A home run in the sixth inning and added a single in the eighth. Reyes’ .335 average is the highest in the league since 2016, and he ranks third among all full-season minor leaguers as the regular season nears its end.
The 24-year-old Dominican Republic native also led the Eastern League in slugging percentage (.572), OPS (.937), doubles (34), extra-base hits (53), and total bases (210). He was tied for eighth in home runs (15) and seventh in RBIs (65). Reyes spent the entire 2024 season with high-A Jersey Shore, where he hit .243 in 85 games.
Promotions and Roster Adjustments
Another player making waves is fellow Fightins infielder Erick Brito, who was promoted to Triple-A after spending the previous two months with Reading. Brito batted .258 in 46 games with Lehigh Valley this season.
In addition, IronPigs infielder Rafael Lantigua was called up by the Phillies to replace INF Edmundo Sosa, who was placed on the 10-day IL due to a right groin strain. To make room for Lantigua on the 40-man roster, Lehigh Valley OF Brewer Hicklen was DFA’d. Lantigua had a .232/.359/.333 line in 124 games with the IronPigs.
Top Prospects Make Their Mark
Philadelphia’s top prospect, Andrew Painter, will make his final start of the season on Wednesday. The right-hander has a 5-5 record with a 5.35 ERA, 117 strikeouts, and 45 walks in 114 combined innings. Painter started the season with low-A Clearwater before joining Lehigh Valley.
Aidan Miller, the Phillies’ No. 2 prospect, also made a strong impression during his first few games with the IronPigs. In his first at-bat at Coca-Cola Park, Miller hit a solo home run on the first pitch he saw. So far this season, Miller is batting .300 with a 1.050 OPS, including seven walks, five strikeouts, and five stolen bases in six attempts.
Griff McGarry, a former top-5 Phillies prospect, will make his 2025 Triple-A debut on Thursday. He previously posted a 1-4 record with a 3.25 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 17 starts with Double-A Reading. At 26 years old, McGarry has a solid track record, having struck out 103 and walked 45 in 72 innings last season with the IronPigs.
Playoffs Out of Reach
Despite holding the International League’s best overall record at 85-58, the IronPigs were officially eliminated from playoff contention following Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s win over Buffalo. This marks the end of an impressive regular season, but the team will look to finish strong in their final series.
Team Awards Recognize Excellence
Reading announced several team awards for 2025, recognizing outstanding performances from its players. Aidan Miller took home the Stolen Base Leader Award with 52 stolen bases, while Tommy McCollum received the Community Service Award. Chuck King was honored with the Unsung Hero Award, and Jean Cabrera won both the Strikeout Leader and Pitcher of the Year Awards.
Felix Reyes was named the Big Stick Award winner for his 15 home runs, and Alex Binelas took home the Clutch Player Award for his strong performance in key situations.
Upcoming Game
The IronPigs will face off against the Hartford Yard Goats on Tuesday, April 7, as they begin their 2026 home schedule. On Wednesday, RHP Andrew Painter will take the mound against LHP Brandon Waddell in a 6:45 p.m. game at Coca-Cola Park.
