The Outsiders Perspective has become a key addition to L'Incubateur, an initiative founded by Alexandre de Betak, known for his work with Bureau Betak and as creative chairman at The Independents. Before welcoming The Outsiders Perspective into its fold through a minority stake, L'Incubateur had already made an investment in Matière Noire, a Paris-based creative studio, in March 2025.
Founded in 2022 by Jamie Gill, The Outsiders Perspective was created to address the lack of diversity within the fashion industry, particularly behind the scenes. As an incubator, it focuses on nurturing individuals from underrepresented communities, ensuring they are well-prepared to take on operational roles in the fashion business. This effort aims to bring about meaningful changes in equity, diversity, and inclusion within the sector.
Over the past three years, The Outsiders Perspective has successfully placed more than 200 candidates in jobs at over 25 brand partners, including notable names like Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Lululemon, and Tiffany & Co. These roles span various levels and functions, including marketing, finance, business development, technology, digital, and sustainability.
The company has also developed an in-house team of five and regularly organizes networking events that connect candidates with potential employers. In October, it will launch the seventh edition of its Accelerator Program, which will support a new group of skilled professionals of color who are looking to transition into the fashion industry. This includes individuals from fields such as banking, law, and accounting.
Jamie Gill highlighted that one consistent theme from partners is that candidates placed through the program demonstrate cultural fluency and professional rigor, allowing them to integrate quickly and make an impact from the start. For example, candidates from the financial services sector have implemented cost-saving efficiency models, delivering measurable results almost immediately.
By joining L'Incubateur, The Outsiders Perspective aims to leverage the global expertise of the 20 partners in the collective, such as Karla Otto, Lucien Pagès Communication, and Bureau Betak. This partnership not only supports the expansion of The Outsiders Perspective's geographic reach but also allows it to enter adjacent industries like beauty and hospitality.
The new structure also enables Gill to foster meaningful change at the C-suite level through the launch of Executive Search, a new division that provides tailored talent acquisition solutions. This initiative helps place diverse leaders in decision-making roles across the luxury and lifestyle industries.
Gill believes that Executive Search is uniquely positioned to add value to its partners compared to traditional headhunting methods. He emphasized that a common mistake in executive hiring is selecting seasoned leaders from other industries who may lack an understanding of the nuances of the fashion industry. The Outsiders Perspective acts as a filter, seeking out the best talent while applying in-house expertise to identify candidates whose experience from other industries resonates within the luxury sector.
