But for the Florida State Seminoles, head coach Mike Norvell has managed to bring in a standout freshman class that promises to change the trajectory of the program. At the heart of this group is running back Ousmane Kromah, a true freshman who has already begun to make a name for himself.

Despite not being the primary running back on the depth chart, Kromah has consistently impressed with his performance. His ability to seize opportunities and deliver when called upon has not gone unnoticed. Veteran teammate and defensive back Earl Little Jr. has publicly praised Kromah’s potential, calling him a "freak" and hinting at the impact he could have in the future.

“He’s going to be a problem in the future… I’m dead serious,” Little Jr. said on the Nole GameDay Podcast. “The other day in practice, we had this thing called perimeter drill, and he'll come up to me and tell me how I inspire him, how hard I work, and everything. And, he will just ask me some questions about the safeties coming down and everything, taking different angles, and stuff like that to better his game. I respect that about Ous. But look, that man really tried to hurdle me. Ous [Ousmane Kromah] is a freak bro. Y’all just getting a little glimpse of what he can do. I’m telling you, he’s different.”

Kromah’s performance so far has been nothing short of impressive. On just 12 carries this season, he has accumulated 68 rushing yards, averaging an impressive 5.7 yards per carry—the highest among the team’s running backs. While he hasn’t yet scored a rushing touchdown, he has made an impact through the air, catching two passes for 50 yards and a touchdown. His versatility as a receiver and his solid pass protection skills further highlight his value to the team.

A Legacy of Great Running Backs

Florida State has a rich history of producing elite running backs. From Dalvin Cook and Cam Akers to Devonta Freeman, Warrick Dunn, Travis Minor, Greg Allen, and Larry Key, the program has consistently developed players who have gone on to succeed at the next level. More recently, Trey Benson and Lawrence Toafili have also made their mark in Tallahassee.

With Kromah now part of this storied lineage, the Seminoles are looking at the possibility of adding another name to the list of all-time greats.
