Emmy-Winning Cast of "The Pitt" Returns to Pittsburgh for Season Two

Cast and Crew Return to Pittsburgh for Season Two of "The Pitt"
The cast and crew of the critically acclaimed television series "The Pitt" have returned to Pittsburgh to begin filming the second season of the show. This comes just days after the team celebrated a successful night at the Emmy Awards, where the show took home five prestigious accolades.
One of the most notable wins was for Outstanding Drama Series, a testament to the show’s compelling storytelling and production quality. Noah Wyle, who portrays Dr. Robby on the show, also received an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. In his first interview since the win, Wyle reflected on the significance of the award and the support from his family.
“My daughter cleared off space on our mantle, and then she went to sleep, and I came home, and I put both of them on the mantel, and she woke up, and she came in the bedroom the next morning, she said, 'Dad, what happened?' And I said, go down and see. She went downstairs, and I could hear her say, 'You got two,'" Wyle shared.
Wyle also expressed his appreciation for Pittsburgh and its role in shaping the show. He highlighted how the city's unique characteristics make the series more relatable to a wider audience.
"It just seemed like a really great city and a quintessentially American city. The more detail that we put into the show that makes it feel more Pittsburgh-specific, I feel, makes it more relatable to people that aren't from Pittsburgh because everybody has a Primantis sandwich, everybody's got an Iron City beer in their town. And the more specific you can identify it to this place, the more people can feel like it's their place as well," he said.
Filming Locations and New Challenges
Season two will feature a variety of filming locations, including the LifeFlight helipad at Allegheny General Hospital, a rooftop with panoramic views of the city, and various entryways to the facility. Some parts of the hospital have been transformed to match the show’s aesthetic, with Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center signs on the front doors.
Patrick Ball, who plays Dr. Frank Langdon, is also returning for the second season. Ball shared insights into his preparation for the role, which involved watching interviews with Mike Tomlin and highlights featuring Aaron Rodgers.
“I really just watched a lot of Mike Tomlin interviews, and, yeah. And just watched the Aaron Rodgers highlights, pretty much,” Ball said.
Realistic Depiction of Healthcare Challenges
"The Pitt" has been praised for its realistic portrayal of the challenges faced by healthcare workers. Dr. Brent Rau, the real-life Dr. Robby at Allegheny General Hospital, where part of the show is filmed, commended the show’s accuracy.
“The whole show does a remarkable job of just showing what health care workers go through every day. In the emergency department and outside of the emergency department, as well as with our paramedic colleagues and nurses, physicians, all the staff involved,” Rau said.
What to Expect in Season Two
Season two promises to be just as intense as the first, with 15 hours of content set on the Fourth of July. The show teased that “there'll be more fireworks than just over the roof.”
Fans can look forward to the return of "The Pitt" in January 2026. The second season is expected to continue the high standards set by the first, with more gripping storylines and stunning visuals.
