The Duffer Brothers Reveal Episode Details for Stranger Things 5, Volume One
Fans of the hit series Stranger Things are eagerly awaiting the fifth and final season, which promises to be the most epic conclusion yet. The Duffer Brothers have already shared details about the first four episodes and teased a “massive” mid-season finale. Recently, they gave fans their first plot insights into the first episodes of Stranger Things 5, offering a glimpse into what to expect from this highly anticipated season.
Chapters One and Two of Stranger Things 5 Are Absolutely Insane Episodes
On August 3, Ross Duffer shared some exciting news on Instagram, hinting at what fans can expect from the first two episodes of Stranger Things 5. He praised “Chapter One,” calling it his favorite and most eventful first episode since season one. Duffer wrote, “‘The Crawl’ is our favorite, most eventful first episode since season one.”
When it came to the second episode, titled “The Vanishing of…,” Duffer was more cryptic but still provided some intriguing details. He mentioned that the cold open of this episode is the craziest they’ve ever done and one of the sequences they’re most proud of this season. The title is a callback to the very first episode, “The Vanishing of Will Byers,” but with the name blurred out, leaving fans guessing who might be in danger next. Some theories suggest that little Holly Wheeler, Mike’s younger sister, could be the next target.
Chapters Three and Four of Stranger Things 5 Are Classic Stranger Things Episodes
Ross Duffer later shared an update on Instagram, confirming that filming for “Volume One” has wrapped. He posted pictures from the edit bay, giving fans a sneak peek at “Chapter Three” and “Chapter Four.” More importantly, he provided some insights into these episodes.
“Chapters Three and Four: locked, mixed, scored, colored… Volume One is DONE,” Duffer wrote. For episode three, he highlighted that “The Turnbow Trap” is the most classic Stranger Things-y episode of the season. It features a director who literally came out of retirement—Frank Darabont, known for Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Walking Dead. Duffer praised his work, saying, “He crushed it, obviously.”
Episode four, titled “Sorcerer,” is described as “MASSIVE.” Duffer noted that it’s as big as any finale they’ve ever done and the most logistically insane shoot of their lives. Fans can only imagine what kind of epic showdown awaits in this episode.
What We Know So Far About Stranger Things 5
The final season will consist of eight episodes divided into three parts. The first four episodes will premiere on Netflix on November 26, followed by episodes five through seven on December 25, and the final episode on December 31. Fans are already speculating about the plot, as the show will begin with a major time jump, picking up in the Fall of 1987, more than a year after where season four left off.
Co-creator Matt Duffer mentioned that there will be no slow build-up in season five, stating, “It’s just going to be going 100 miles an hour from the beginning.” The new season will also carry a mature rating, unlike previous seasons.
Where We Left Off in Stranger Things 4
Season four saw the Hawkins gang face off against Vecna, a powerful villain with psychic abilities. After Eleven defeated him, he returned to enact his revenge on Hawkins. The crew must regroup to stop the threat once and for all.
Who’s Coming Back?
Many beloved characters will return for the final season, including Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard, and more. New additions include Linda Hamilton from The Terminator. Fans are excited to see how these characters will play into the final story.

Fans are theorizing about everything from Eddie Munson's possible return to Eleven's role in defeating Vecna. One theory suggests that Eleven may have to take over as the ruler of the Upside Down, leading to a bittersweet ending.
