The vehicle features a longer wheelbase, unique sheetmetal, and a fresh interior design that reflects the brand’s commitment to modernity and innovation. Despite these changes, the GLC EV still retains the recognizable look of a traditional GLC, ensuring that drivers can easily identify it as part of the family.

One of the most notable features of the GLC EV is the optional new grille, which includes a matrix design made up of 942 backlit dots. This distinctive feature adds a touch of sophistication and helps to differentiate the EV from its predecessors. Additionally, the GLC EV is slightly larger than the standard GLC, measuring 190.7 inches in length—five inches longer from nose to tail.

Two Trims, Two Powertrains

The GLC EV will be available in two trims: the GLC400 4Matic and the GLC300+. The GLC400 4Matic will be the first to hit the market, arriving in late 2026. It features a dual-motor setup that delivers 483 horsepower and 596 pound-feet of torque, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.

The second trim, the GLC300+, will launch in early 2027. While it lacks the front motor found in the GLC400, it still offers a strong 369 horsepower and 372 pound-feet of torque. The rear-drive GLC300+ is expected to reach 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. Both models are equipped with a two-speed transmission for the rear axle, which optimizes performance and efficiency at different speeds.

Screens Galore

The interior of the GLC EV is a technological marvel, featuring the latest version of Mercedes’ Hyperscreen. This massive display stretches from A-pillar to A-pillar and measures 39.1 inches, making it the largest continuous screen offered by the brand. The Hyperscreen supports the newest version of Microsoft Teams, allowing drivers to join video calls using the in-car camera. However, the video feed automatically turns off when the vehicle starts moving to comply with local laws.

For those who prefer a more modest setup, the GLC EV also offers a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a 14-inch center infotainment touchscreen, and a 14-inch screen mounted on the dash in front of the passenger. This configuration still provides ample screen real estate for a comfortable and connected driving experience.

Range and Charging Capabilities

Both the GLC300+ and the GLC400 feature an 800-volt architecture and come equipped with a 94.0-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. While official EPA range estimates are not yet available, Mercedes has provided a WLTP estimate of around 376 miles. This impressive range ensures that drivers can cover long distances without frequent stops for charging.

The 800-volt architecture also allows for rapid charging. According to Mercedes, the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes using a DC fast charger. Even with a shorter 10-minute charging session, drivers can expect to gain approximately 160 miles of range based on WLTP estimates.

Maintenance and Repair

Mercedes has also focused on the maintenance and repair of the GLC EV’s battery. The electrical unit for the battery is accessible from below the car, making it easier to fix or replace without dismantling the entire system. This thoughtful design ensures that owners can enjoy reliable performance and peace of mind.

Market Competition

The GLC EV is set to compete directly with other mainstream electric SUVs, including the recently revealed BMW iX3. The iX3 features a 463-hp, all-wheel-drive powertrain and offers around 400 miles of range. With its advanced technology, powerful performance, and luxurious interior, the GLC EV is well-positioned to capture a significant share of the market.
