Details of the Shooting

The shooting unfolded in the lobby of the office tower, where the suspect, identified as Shane Tamura from Las Vegas, opened fire. According to reports, Tamura first shot an NYPD officer, then targeted a woman who attempted to take cover. He continued to spray gunfire throughout the lobby, reportedly injuring multiple people before moving to the 33rd floor.

During the incident, Tamura shot a security guard who was taking cover behind a desk and another man in the lobby. Afterward, he reportedly took the elevator to the 33rd floor and shot one more individual before taking his own life. The exact motive behind the attack remains under investigation.

The NYPD officer who died in the shooting was identified as Didarul Islam, a 36-year-old immigrant from Bangladesh. He had served the city for three-and-a-half years and was a father of two young boys. His wife was reportedly pregnant with their third child at the time of his death.
