Woman Charged with Dragging Las Vegas Officer Using SUV After Target Theft

A Woman Faces Felony Charges After Allegedly Dragging a Las Vegas Officer with an SUV
A woman is now facing multiple felony charges after an alleged incident involving a Las Vegas police officer. The event took place just after 7 p.m. on Friday at a Target store located at 4100 Blue Diamond Road. According to the details provided in the report, a loss prevention employee noticed a group of individuals in the baby department attempting to hide items in their bags. The employee then contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) to report the suspected shoplifting.
The arrest report indicates that the employee observed one female suspect walking outside to a white SUV, where she dropped off some items before returning to the store. During the incident, the suspects attempted to pay for their purchases using a self-checkout kiosk but failed to pay for all the items. An LVMPD officer arrived and tried to stop one of the suspects, identified as Keneshia Dixon, 35, along with another individual as they were exiting the store.
Escalation of the Situation
The officer attempted to detain Dixon, but she pulled away and ran toward the vehicle. Despite verbal commands from the officer, the suspect and others fled to the white SUV. A witness reported seeing two younger girls, aged between 12 and 15, yelling at the officer, asking, “Get off my mom! What is she getting arrested for? Stop!”
As the situation escalated, the officer became lodged inside the vehicle, with his legs hanging out the door. The witness noted that the suspect was punching the officer using closed fists. According to the arrest report, the officer was partially dragged into the vehicle while it was traveling at speeds ranging from 30 to 50 mph. A bystander who witnessed the incident expressed fear for the officer’s life when she saw his legs dangling from the car.
Police Intervention and the Outcome
Other LVMPD officers arrived and saw the officer’s legs hanging from the moving vehicle as it traveled toward Blue Diamond Road. Officers attempted a precision immobilization technique, commonly known as a PIT maneuver, and a police car bumped the SUV. The vehicle was later struck by a box truck and crashed into landscaping at a bank.
Three of the four individuals involved were quickly detained, while Dixon fled on foot while wearing police handcuffs. The three individuals were only identified by their first names: Breshawna, Kanesha, and Alyana. A short time later, Dixon was located and arrested near Blue Diamond Road and Arville Street.
Medical Attention and Legal Consequences
The officer was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries. Dixon was also treated for minor injuries and remained in custody. Police recovered more than 20 pieces of stolen baby clothing from the SUV.
Dixon was released from the Clark County Detention Center on Tuesday and ordered to stay out of trouble and avoid the Target location. She faces multiple charges, including second-degree kidnapping, burglary of a business (first offense), resisting a public officer with a dangerous weapon (not a firearm), battery on a protected person, three counts of first-degree child abuse or neglect, and escape by a felony prisoner.
Dixon is scheduled to appear in court at 8:30 a.m. on Monday. This case highlights the serious consequences of criminal actions and the risks faced by law enforcement during high-stress encounters.
