A Woman Arrested for Alleged Daily Abuse of Her Grandson

In Keysville, Georgia, a woman has been arrested after being accused of physically abusing her grandson on a nightly basis. Patricia Green was taken into custody on Sunday and charged with cruelty to children in the first degree. The incident came to light after a 14-year-old male student at Burke County High School reported allegations of abuse to school officials.

The situation unfolded on Friday afternoon when members of the Burke County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the school’s counselor’s office around 2:20 p.m. They met with a school counselor who had been speaking with the victim, a young boy who claimed he had been abused. During their conversation, the victim explained that his grandmother, Patricia Green, had been beating him almost every night. Deputies documented the injuries and informed investigators, after which the boy was placed under the care of his grandfather.

According to the incident report, the victim had visible signs of injury, including a busted lip, a laceration on the top of his head, and bruising on his left arm. During an interview with investigators, the boy confirmed that Green had been physically assaulting him nearly every night. He described how the laceration on his head resulted from being struck with a dust pan several days earlier. He also mentioned that Green often becomes intoxicated before engaging in physical abuse, which led to the injury to his lip.

The victim could not recall exactly when the bruises on his arm occurred, but he consistently stated that Green beat him every night. He added that his grandfather occasionally tried to intervene, but this led to Green becoming aggressive toward him as well. When the grandfather defended himself or the victim and fought back, Green would call the police, resulting in the grandfather’s previous arrest.

Investigators later contacted the victim’s grandfather at his home on Mini Farms Road. He confirmed that Green was not present at the time. When asked about the injuries, he said, “Whatever he told you is the truth.” He also shared that Green drinks heavily and becomes angry due to not receiving child support for the juvenile. According to him, this anger is directed at the victim, who is subjected to abuse almost every night.

The grandfather revealed that there is another male juvenile living in the home, but Green does not abuse him. He explained that the parents of the other boy were unable to care for him, so he and Green have full custody. Both the victim’s and the grandfather’s accounts were verified by investigators.

The grandfather expressed frustration over not receiving help for the victim and encouraged him to speak with his counselor. He assured that if the boy returned home, he would contact law enforcement to turn Green over. He also agreed not to inform Green about the investigation, hoping for an arrest.

Following the interviews and evidence gathered, the sheriff’s office obtained warrants for Green and proceeded with her arrest. This case highlights the serious issue of domestic violence and child abuse, emphasizing the importance of reporting such incidents and seeking help through available resources.
