The Journey to Victory

The game began with 10 players, and as the challenges unfolded, two more joined the competition. Now, only one remains — the ultimate winner of Destination X. On Tuesday, July 29, the finale brought the final three contestants face-to-face in a high-stakes showdown.

Among those still competing were Christian “Biggy” Bailey, a sports bettor from Tennessee; Rick Szabo, a bird watcher from Ontario; and Peter Weber, a reality TV veteran known for his appearances on The Bachelor and The Traitors, originally from Los Angeles. Each contestant had their own personal motivations for playing. Biggy was determined to treat his grandmother to a vacation after experiencing a significant loss. Rick hoped to restore his family’s financial stability after selling their home due to struggles during the pandemic. Peter, on the other hand, wanted to move back West to be closer to his brother's newborn child.

This time, the trio found themselves flying above London, England. London marked the final destination in a journey that had taken them across Europe. Their adventure started in Rome, Italy, then moved to Geneva, Switzerland, followed by Paris, France, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Munich, Germany, Salzburg, Austria, and Venice, Italy. The penultimate challenge took them to Monaco, France.

Their arrival in London began with a visit to the Painted Hall in Greenwich, where they were presented with trivia questions about their previous locations and challenges. This quiz offered them the chance to either advance or hinder their opponents’ progress. Rick, who had been targeting Biggy, eventually revealed his alliance with Peter. Despite the support Rick gave Peter, Biggy managed to stay in the game until the very end. If he had made a different choice during his final opportunity to eliminate someone, he might have reached the final round. Unfortunately, only Rick and Peter advanced to the final challenge.

In the final challenge, the two contestants were given personal drivers and tasked with navigating London to find landmarks based on clues. They first headed to the Bank of England, then to Piccadilly Circus. The third clue sent Rick to Baker Street and Peter to Tower Bridge. Both collected all the necessary clues to determine the final Destination X. The clues included a picture of Queen Elizabeth II, a $100 bill, and an hourglass. While Peter believed this pointed to the Tower of London, Rick correctly identified it as Big Ben. After removing his vision-impairing goggles, Rick stood before a suitcase filled with cash.

Peter, though disappointed, expressed his happiness for Rick through tears. Rick, overwhelmed with joy, called his wife to share the news of their good fortune.

With this win, Rick Szabo becomes the first-ever champion of Destination X, walking away with a quarter of a million dollars.
