The Tragic Passing of Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans
The online community has been deeply affected by the passing of influencers Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans, who died in August. Their deaths have left a profound impact on fans, friends, and family alike. Kaslo Search and Rescue (SAR) confirmed their tragic fate, stating that rescuers were called to the scene of an off-road motor vehicle accident on August 7 around 7:30 local time.
The incident occurred on a forestry road in the mountains, near the village of Trout Lake. Mark Jennings-Bates, a manager of the Kaslo SAR, explained that while the location was remote, the team was able to reach the couple efficiently. This allowed for a helicopter pilot to fly directly to the site with confidence, knowing they would find the victims.
Where Were Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans Found?
Tourout and Yeomans were discovered in British Columbia after their vehicle rolled downhill approximately 200 meters, or roughly 656 feet. According to Jennings-Bates, the pair "rolled many, many times" during the accident. One of the victims had no vital signs in the vehicle, while the other was taken to a hospital and later passed away.
Jennings-Bates described the rescue operation as challenging due to the uphill terrain but noted that his team managed to respond efficiently. He also mentioned that the team had handled several other calls in the vicinity of the crash site.
What Is the Cause of Death?
At this time, no official cause of death has been released. However, Jennings-Bates suggested that the exact cause of the accident remains unclear. He speculated that the couple may have lost control of their vehicle on the rugged terrain.
What Caused the Off-Roading Accident?
While the precise reason for the accident is still under investigation, Jennings-Bates believed that the couple may have lost control of their vehicle. The terrain was described as particularly difficult, and the vehicle fell about 200 meters down a steep boulder field.
Family Statements About Their Deaths
The couple's families shared news of their passing on August 11, accompanied by a photo of Tourout and Yeomans smiling in front of a mountain. In a statement posted on Facebook, they expressed their heartbreak, saying:
"With unimaginable heartache, the families of Matthew Peter Yeomans and Stacey Tourout would like to advise that we lost them both tragically succumbing to injuries in an offroad accident on Aug 7, 2025 in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia that they loved so much."
They continued, "Please keep us and them in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this devastating end to an amazing Love Story. They are together forever as we knew they would always be."
Did Either Survive the Crash?
Jennings-Bates told a publication that Tourout was still conscious when the rescue team arrived at the scene. She suffered a severe head injury and was lifted from the area by helicopter. She was then transferred to a local hospital, where she passed away later that night.
Yeomans, on the other hand, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and had no vital signs when the rescue team found him. The couple crashed in an area with rough terrain, and the vehicle fell approximately 200 meters down a steep boulder field.
Jennings-Bates added that the location was unique because it lacked trees on the side of the road. He explained that if the couple had gone off the road elsewhere, they might have been caught by the trees, resulting in less severe injuries. However, this particular area allowed for a more dramatic fall.
