Chicago experienced a series of violent incidents over the weekend, resulting in at least two fatalities and 23 injuries. The victims ranged in age from 6 to 49 years old, highlighting the wide impact of the violence across different demographics.
Incidents on Saturday
The first reported shooting occurred around 1 a.m. Saturday. A 36-year-old woman was walking along South Michigan Avenue when an unknown man approached her and shot at her as she ran away. She sustained a grazing wound to her arm and was treated and released at the scene.
Around the same time, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the arm while walking along South Escanaba Avenue. He also suffered a grazing wound and transported himself to South Shore Hospital in good condition.
A 25-year-old woman was wounded in a drive-by shooting around 4:30 a.m. in the 7400 block of South State Street. She was struck in the leg and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
Later that day, several other shootings were reported:
- At 1:09 p.m., a 40-year-old man was shot in the leg and groin while on South Pulaski Road. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
- At 2:15 p.m., a 27-year-old man was robbed and then shot in the leg during an altercation on South Carpenter Street. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.
- At 7:40 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the abdomen while standing outside on South Marshfield Avenue. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition but could not provide details about the incident.

Incidents on Sunday
Shootings continued into Sunday:
- At 5:06 a.m., a 29-year-old man was killed after being shot multiple times while sitting in a vehicle on North Mozart Street. No arrests were made.
- At 10:30 a.m., a 34-year-old man was injured during an argument that turned into a fight. He was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition.
- At 10:30 a.m., a 6-year-old boy was taken to Humboldt Park House Hospital with a gunshot wound to his finger. No further details were available.
- At 11:42 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot multiple times by unknown gunmen on West Adams Street. He was pronounced dead at Mt. Sinai Hospital.
- At 11 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was found to have a gunshot wound to his calf after fleeing the scene of a shooting. He was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in good condition.
Early Monday Morning
- At 3:24 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot multiple times in the back while walking on South Stony Island Avenue. He was taken to U of C in critical condition.
