Trump's Approval Ratings Drop to New Lows

President Donald Trump's approval rating has seen a slight decline, falling to 40 percent, marking the lowest point of his second term according to a recent poll. This survey, conducted by Reuters/Ipsos and completed on Monday, included responses from 1,023 American adults. The results indicate that the country remains deeply divided in its assessment of Trump’s performance since he took office.

Approximately 83 percent of Republicans approve of his actions, while only three percent of Democrats support him. A third of independent voters also express approval of his work. Despite this division, there are some areas where Trump is receiving positive feedback.

Economic and Immigration Policies Gain Support

A significant portion of respondents, 38 percent, approve of Trump’s handling of the economy, an increase from 35 percent in mid-July. Additionally, 43 percent of people approve of his immigration policies, slightly up from 41 percent a few weeks prior. These numbers suggest that certain aspects of his administration are still resonating with the public.

However, not all areas of his presidency are performing well. Trump is facing challenges, particularly among one of his core voter groups: men. A recent CBS/YouGov poll revealed that his approval rating among men has been declining during his second term. The poll found that 47 percent of men approve of his job performance, while 53 percent do not.

Men's Discontent Grows

In October, just before Trump's re-election, a similar CBS/YouGov poll showed that 54 percent of men supported him, and 64 percent believed he would be a strong leader. The current drop in approval reflects a broader dissatisfaction with his second term. According to DecisionDeskHQ's polling averages, Trump's overall approval rating has dropped by about 12 points since January, moving from 56 percent to 44 percent this week.

The poll also indicated that 47 percent of men feel Trump is focusing "too much" on deportations, while 33 percent believe he is at the right level of focus. Another concerning statistic is that 65 percent of men think Trump has not done enough to lower prices, with only 29 percent believing he has made sufficient efforts.

Gallup Poll Shows Further Decline

Another poll by Gallup last week placed Trump's approval rating at 37 percent, the lowest for that specific poll. According to the findings, the three main issues driving down his approval ratings were the very factors that initially attracted men to his campaign. This trend could pose challenges for the Republican Party during the midterm elections if they fail to adjust their messaging and priorities.

Challenges with the Epstein Files

Trump's declining approval ratings come at a time when some of his long-time supporters and party members are questioning his handling of the so-called "Epstein files." The president had promised transparency regarding what the government knew about Jeffrey Epstein, a disgraced financier and sex offender who had a well-documented history of friendship with Trump.

After U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced she had the so-called Epstein “client list,” the administration quickly backtracked and denied the existence of such a file. They also confirmed previous rulings that Epstein died by suicide in his New York jail cell while awaiting trial for child sex trafficking.

As the political landscape continues to shift, these developments may have significant implications for Trump's future and the broader Republican strategy.
