Trump's Reaction to Summit with Putin and Upcoming Meeting with Zelensky

President Donald Trump recently expressed frustration over his recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which took place in Anchorage, Alaska. The summit was described by Trump as "productive," but the two leaders failed to reach an agreement on a ceasefire in Ukraine. Following the talks, Trump made several statements to reporters, emphasizing that there was no deal until one was actually reached.

Putin, on the other hand, characterized the discussions as a "reference point" for ending the conflict and a starting point for future diplomatic and economic relations between the U.S. and Russia. This outcome led to criticism from some experts who suggested that the summit was more of a win for Putin than for Trump.

Trump responded to the media coverage by posting several messages on Truth Social, where he criticized what he called "Fake News." He claimed that the press had been suggesting he suffered a "major defeat" by allowing Putin to have a major summit in the United States. Trump argued that Putin would have preferred holding the meeting elsewhere, adding that the media would have criticized that decision as well.

In another post, Trump targeted Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy, who had commented that Putin "got everything that he wanted" during the three-hour meeting. Trump dismissed Murphy as a "lightweight" and claimed that it was difficult for Putin to meet in the U.S. He also criticized individuals like John Bolton for making it harder to end the war.

Former National Security Advisor John Bolton noted that Trump appeared "very tired" after the summit. Trump left the next steps in the hands of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, stating that Putin had offered to freeze the front lines if Kyiv gave up all of Donetsk, an industrial region that is a key target for Moscow. However, Zelensky rejected this demand.

Trump later tweeted on Truth Social, saying that Zelensky could end the war with Russia almost immediately if he wanted to or continue fighting. Zelensky, along with leaders from Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and Finland, will meet Trump at the White House on Monday. This will be the first time the Ukrainian and U.S. leaders have met since February.

Trump expressed excitement about the event, tweeting, "Big day at the White House tomorrow. Never had so many European Leaders at one time. My great honor to host them!!!" However, he quickly lashed out at the media, claiming that reports had described his hosting of the European leaders as a "big loss." Trump insisted that it was actually a great honor for America.

Zelensky's allies have welcomed Trump's efforts to reach a deal with Putin but have promised to support Ukraine and tighten sanctions on Russia. Zelensky himself has stated that he cannot concede territory without changes to Ukraine's constitution and has emphasized the need for security guarantees to prevent further Russian invasions.

After the summit, Trump told Putin, "We'll speak to you very soon and probably see you again very soon." Putin replied in English, "Next time in Moscow."

Amid these developments, there have been rumors that Putin is covering his face in layers of make-up because he "will die soon." These claims remain unverified and are part of the ongoing speculation surrounding the situation in Ukraine and the international response to the conflict.
