Vice President JD Vance Denies Meeting on Epstein Scandal Amid Trump's Dismissal

Vice President JD Vance has denied any involvement in a strategy dinner aimed at addressing the ongoing controversy surrounding the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. This denial came as former President Donald Trump dismissed the scandal as “bulls--t,” further intensifying the political firestorm.

The allegations surfaced after reports suggested that Vance was set to meet with senior Trump officials, including Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, and FBI Director Kash Patel. The meeting was reportedly intended to coordinate a response to the growing scrutiny over Epstein’s case. However, Vance categorically denied these claims, calling them “fake news.”

The denial occurred during an Oval Office event with Apple CEO Tim Cook, where Trump highlighted new investments from the tech giant. When asked about the meeting, Trump responded ambiguously, saying, “I don’t know. I could ask you that question.” He then turned to Vance, who was present, and received a firm reply: “It’s completely fake news. We’re not meeting to talk about the Epstein situation, and I think the reporter who reported it needs to get better sources.”

Trump later expanded on his dismissal of the scandal, claiming it was a “hoax” orchestrated by Democrats to divert attention from what he described as the administration’s “most successful six months in the history of our country.” He reiterated that the issue was “total bulls--t.”

The initial report about the meeting was published by CNN, but Vance’s communications director, William Martin, quickly refuted the story, calling it “pure fiction.” He stated that no such meeting had ever been scheduled at the vice president’s residence to discuss Epstein-related strategies.

The Administration’s Dilemma

As the administration weighs its next steps, there is growing pressure to address the public’s concerns about the Epstein case. One option under consideration is the release of an audio recording and transcript of a recent conversation between Blanche and Ghislaine Maxwell, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in Epstein’s crimes. Another possibility involves Blanche, who previously served as Trump’s personal attorney, holding a press conference or conducting a high-profile interview to provide more clarity on the matter.

However, the prospect of Vance becoming involved in the situation has drawn criticism. Since the Watergate scandal, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has maintained a degree of independence from the White House in criminal investigations to avoid perceptions of political interference. This tradition has raised concerns about the potential for bias or manipulation in handling the Epstein case.

A History of Controversy

Jeffrey Epstein, a well-known associate of Trump, died in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges involving underage girls. His former girlfriend and accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, was later convicted in 2022 for her role in recruiting and abusing young girls. Despite this, the issue has become a significant political challenge for Trump, who previously promised his base that he would release criminal files related to the case. Now, he is attempting to downplay the scandal, leading to fears of a cover-up.

Trump has also refused to rule out pardoning Maxwell, who recently met with Blanche in a secret session. When questioned about the meeting, Trump claimed he had not been briefed, stating, “I didn’t know about it at all.”

Calls for Transparency

Both Vance and other officials have faced pressure to be more transparent about the case. Earlier this year, Vance expressed the need to release the so-called “Epstein list” on the Theo Von podcast, calling it an important step. Meanwhile, victims and their families continue to demand accountability for the crimes committed by Epstein and Maxwell.

“Their voices must be heard, above all,” said the siblings of Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most prominent victims, who died by suicide earlier this year. As the political and legal battles continue, the spotlight remains on those who seek justice for the survivors of Epstein’s alleged crimes.
