Trump Claims Epstein 'Stole' Young Women From Mar-a-Lago, Including Virginia Giuffre

Trump's Claims About Jeffrey Epstein and the Spa Workers
U.S. President Donald Trump has made new statements regarding his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, a financier and sex offender who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking. During a recent press conference, Trump claimed that Epstein had "stolen" young women who worked at the spa of his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. This is the latest development in Trump’s evolving narrative about how their relationship ended years ago.
One of the women Trump referred to is Virginia Giuffre, a prominent accuser of Epstein. She was among those who alleged that she was sexually abused by Epstein when she was a teenager. Giuffre also claimed that Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend, recruited her for Epstein’s massage services, which led to further abuse.
Trump’s comments expanded on remarks he made the previous day, where he stated that he had banned Epstein from his private club in Florida two decades ago because his former friend “stole people that worked for me.” At the time, he did not specify who those individuals were. However, in his latest statements, Trump suggested that the women were taken from the spa and hired by Epstein.
“I said, listen, we don’t want you taking our people,” Trump said, referring to Epstein. When it happened again, he reportedly banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago.
When asked if Giuffre was one of the employees taken by Epstein, Trump initially avoided answering but later said, “he stole her.”
The White House's Initial Explanation
The White House initially claimed that Trump banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago because he was acting like a “creep.” Giuffre, who passed away earlier this year, had previously accused Epstein of pressuring her into having sexual relations with powerful men. Although her allegations did not lead to criminal charges against Epstein, they have become central to conspiracy theories surrounding the case.
Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse underage girls, was recently interviewed by the Justice Department’s No. 2 official inside a Florida courthouse. However, officials have not publicly disclosed what she said during the interview. Her lawyers have stated that she is willing to answer more questions from Congress if she is granted immunity from future prosecution.
Congressional Response
A spokeswoman for the House Oversight Committee, which requested the interview with Maxwell, said the panel would not consider granting the immunity she requested. The potential interview has sparked renewed interest in the Epstein saga following the Justice Department’s announcement that it would not release any additional records from the investigation. This decision surprised many online sleuths, conspiracy theorists, and elements of Trump’s political base who had hoped to find evidence of a government cover-up.
Since then, the Trump administration has attempted to position itself as a proponent of transparency, urging courts to unseal grand jury transcripts from the sex-trafficking investigations. A judge in Florida recently rejected a similar request, though a similar effort in New York is still pending.
Maxwell's Legal Challenges
Maxwell's attorneys have also urged the Supreme Court to review her conviction, arguing that she did not receive a fair trial. They claim that one way she could testify “openly and honestly, in public” is if she receives a pardon from Trump. Trump has indicated that such a move is within his rights but has not been asked to make it.
“She welcomes the opportunity to share the truth and to dispel the many misconceptions and misstatements that have plagued this case from the beginning,” her attorneys said.
Despite these developments, the Oversight Committee has remained firm in its stance, stating that it will not consider granting congressional immunity for Maxwell’s testimony. The situation continues to draw attention, highlighting the ongoing legal and political complexities surrounding the Epstein case.
