Trump Applauds Rosie O'Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres Fleeing U.S. Over Him: 'I Feel Bad For Them'

Trump Accuses Comedians of Suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome”
President Donald Trump recently made headlines by accusing comedians Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres of suffering from what he called “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” This came after both celebrities admitted to leaving the United States following his 2024 presidential election victory. The remarks were made during an appearance on the New York Post’s Pod Force One, where Trump engaged in a discussion with Miranda Devine.
During the conversation, Devine brought up the topic of O’Donnell, who had moved to Ireland. “Now who went to Ireland but Rosie O’Donnell to escape you?” she asked. Trump responded with a sarcastic remark, saying, “I feel so badly for them. She’s so bad.”
Devine then questioned whether Trump was happy that both O’Donnell and DeGeneres had left the country. Both comedians have since relocated—O’Donnell to Ireland and DeGeneres to the UK—after the 2024 election. Trump, however, seemed unbothered by their departure. “I don’t think about it. You know, it’s funny. I did Ellen’s show numerous times, but you know, they just get into the mood, I guess. I don’t know what’s happened to them. You take a look at them, it’s like, what’s going on?” he said.
The president agreed with Devine’s assertion that both O’Donnell and DeGeneres suffer from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” He added, “It’s Trump Derangement Syndrome. But you don’t know why. I mean, the country is doing better.” Trump claimed the U.S. is “the hottest country in the world right now” and suggested that the comedians should be happy.
He even joked about not allowing O’Donnell back into the country, calling her “very bad for our country and things” and claiming she has “gone crazy.” In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed he was giving “serious consideration” to taking away O’Donnell’s citizenship, further fueling the controversy.
A Long-Running Feud
Trump’s feud with O’Donnell dates back to a tense interview on The View in 2006. The conflict resurfaced during a 2015 debate when Trump was asked about negative comments he had made about women. He jokingly mentioned using terms like “pig” and “slob” to describe O’Donnell.
Since moving to Ireland, O’Donnell has continued to voice her concerns about the 2024 election results. She has pushed conspiracy theories, including one suggesting that Elon Musk helped rig the election in Trump’s favor. Meanwhile, Devine argued on Pod Force One that O’Donnell’s fame has grown significantly due to the ongoing feud with Trump.
“She’s probably doing better than she ever did,” Trump remarked. “She never did great, but she’s doing better than she ever did. Yeah, it’s sort of funny.”
Reflecting on Past Moments
Trump also reminisced about a memorable moment from the 2015 debate, where he criticized O’Donnell. “The big moment was the debate, when we had the debate and I said, only Rosie O’Donnell, when they mentioned lots of bad things. I said, only Rosie O’Donnell, and the whole audience burst into laughter,” he recalled.
He concluded by acknowledging that O’Donnell might be doing better than ever before. “Maybe that’s okay,” he said.
Continued Controversy
Trump’s comments continue to spark debate, especially as the former president remains a polarizing figure in American politics. His public criticism of O’Donnell and DeGeneres highlights the ongoing tensions between him and prominent media personalities. As the political landscape evolves, these exchanges serve as a reminder of the deep divisions that still exist within the public sphere.
