The impact caused the bus to veer into a guardrail and into the path of an oncoming 18-wheeler, which then collided with the bus, causing it to roll onto its side and eject several passengers.

Among those who lost their lives in the crash was Jose "Tito" Hector Guerra, 50, the owner of Transportes Guerra, a Fort Worth-based company that operated the bus traveling from Fort Worth to Mexico. Guerra, who was remembered by his family as a devoted husband, father, and friend, died at the hospital. His brother shared details about his life, highlighting his hard work and kindness. He is described as a "true cowboy at heart" who always had a smile, good advice, or a helping hand for anyone in need.

Another victim identified at the scene was Rosalio Aguilera, 69, who also succumbed to blunt force injuries. Judith Brooks Paulsel died of a sharp force injury, while two other victims remain unidentified. The crash affected individuals of all ages, from children to senior adults. Two people died at the scene, and two more passed away at area hospitals.

Emergency responders transported eight patients with life-threatening injuries and another 13 with minor injuries to local hospitals. University Hospital received 15 victims, including four children.
