"The Pitt" Welcomes Lawrence Robinson as Season 2 Patient

The Pitt Season 2: What We Know So Far
The first season of The Pitt was a critical and fan favorite, capturing the essence of life in a modern-day hospital. From the very first episode, it was clear that Noah Wyle was perfectly cast as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, delivering a standout performance. The ensemble cast also shone brightly, making it no surprise that the show was renewed in-season after its seventh episode.
Production for The Pitt Season 2 has already begun, with HBO Max officially confirming the start on June 16. Filming takes place on the historic Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California, while exterior scenes are shot in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A recent photo shared by the production shows Wyle (Robby) and Ken Kirby (Shen), who is once again seen with his signature iced coffee.
Cast Changes and New Additions
The original cast from Season 1 included Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, and Katherine LaNasa. Shawn Hatosy, Ken Kirby, and Ayesha Harris were among those who recurred in the first season. While the full Season 2 cast list hasn’t been released yet, it’s confirmed that Wyle and Kirby will return. TV Insider’s interview with LaNasa about her Emmy nomination also suggests she will be back.
However, there have been some changes. Tracy Ifeachor, who played Dr. Heather Collins, announced on July 10 that she would not be returning for Season 2. She shared on Instagram that it was an honor to be part of the first season. Other new recurring cast members include Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Laëtitia Hollard, Lucas Iverson, and Sepideh Moafi, who has joined as a series regular. On July 29, Deadline reported that Lawrence Robinson will recur as Brian Hancock, a patient whose soccer injury could lead to a meet-cute with one of the doctors.
Plot and Themes
The Pitt offers a realistic look at the challenges faced by healthcare workers in America. Each episode covers an hour of Robby’s 15-hour shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital’s emergency room. Season 1 took place during the day of Pittfest, where victims of a shooting were brought into the hospital. Season 2 will take place over the Fourth of July weekend.
Executive producers R. Scott Gemmill and John Wells revealed that Season 2 will cover Langdon’s first return to work after rehab. With this time jump, the show may introduce new medical students or nursing students. Gemmill mentioned that shifts often start midway through, so not everyone might appear right away.
Premiere and Streaming Details
HBO Max confirmed that The Pitt Season 2 will premiere in January 2026, exactly one year after Season 1 debuted. While the exact release schedule for episodes hasn’t been finalized, it’s likely that new episodes will follow a similar pattern to Season 1, which aired weekly on Thursdays at 9/8c.
Fans can stay tuned for more updates as production continues and more details about the second season are revealed.
