Taylor Swift's Brother, Austin, Makes a Public Appearance with Natalie Portman

Taylor Swift’s younger brother, Austin, has recently been spotted in New York City alongside actress Natalie Portman, sparking a wave of excitement among fans. This unexpected sighting revealed that the singer is not an only child, which came as a surprise to many.

A post on Reddit gained significant attention when a photo of Austin interacting with Portman was shared. The image quickly went viral, leading to a flood of comments from users expressing their astonishment at not knowing about Taylor's sibling. Some fans even admitted they had no idea she had a brother until this moment.

Austin, who is 33 years old, appeared in a casual outfit, wearing a plaid shirt and black trousers. He looked relaxed as he chatted with friends on the sidewalk. Natalie, known for her role in Black Swan, also kept it simple with a black T-shirt, denim cut-off shorts, and a beige bag with tassels. She wore her brown hair in gentle waves and added a pair of dark sunglasses to complete her look.

Fans were amazed by how down-to-earth Austin seemed despite his famous sister. One user commented, “Taylor has a brother? I must have been living under a rock.” Another said, “Didn’t even know she had a brother until now,” while a third remarked, “Same, I had to do a double take.”

Despite the initial shock, Taylor and Austin have always shown their love for each other on social media. Austin has been seen at several award shows, including the Golden Globes and the Country Music Awards, where he has supported his sister.

Austin's Career in Film and Acting

Behind the scenes, Austin pursued his passion for film and acting. He studied at the University of Notre Dame and made his film debut in 2016 in I.T., alongside Pierce Brosnan. He has since appeared in films such as We Summon the Darkness, Braking for Whales, and Cover Versions.

“I'm pretty reserved in most circumstances, so [acting] never seemed like it would be a good fit. But I kind of got thrust into it and realized that it could be an opportunity to be creative,” he told People in 2018.

Austin has also collaborated with Taylor on various projects. He served as an executive producer for her Folklore: The Long Pond Sessions and as a producer for the music video of her song "I Bet You Think About Me," directed by her friend Blake Lively.

“I was so lucky to get to work with Blake, Taylor, and the entire amazing team behind the video for 'I Bet You Think About Me' and now I am so proud and thankful that we've been nominated for the ACM award for video of the year!” Austin wrote on Instagram when the news was announced.

A Deep Respect for His Sister

As a film buff and three years younger than Taylor, Austin has always held his sister in high regard. He credits her as a major inspiration in his life.

“She found singing, and I knew from very early on that that was her direction. She was never going to quit; that was her thing, that was her life,” he told Vanity Fair. “And I was always a little bit, you know, doing this, doing that.”

He continued, “Something I learned myself, and learned through watching her, is respect. You just respect everyone's time, everyone that you're working with. They're all there, it's all their lives, and you need to put the work in to be worth that.”

A Connection with Travis Kelce

Austin is also close with Taylor’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce. He attended a Kansas City Chiefs game in December 2023, where he received a unique gift from Kelce.

“He actually made me feel like a child because his gift to me was straight out of the bag,” Kelce said on his New Heights podcast. “In the Santa sack. Whipped it out and handed me a VHS of my favorite football movie of all time: Little Giants.”
