Lucy Spraggan's Challenge on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins
Lucy Spraggan, a former X Factor star and singer, recently made headlines for her participation in the upcoming season of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. The show, which first aired in 2015, features celebrities undergoing a grueling course that mimics the selection process of the UK Special Forces. This year’s lineup includes a mix of well-known faces from television, music, and sports.
Spraggan, who is 34 years old, has been open about her determination to complete the course. She described her goal as “making it all the way to the end.” However, her journey on the show wasn’t without its challenges—especially when it came to dealing with Simon Cowell, the creator of X Factor and a close friend.
Cowell, who walked Spraggan down the aisle during her wedding last year, was reportedly upset during one of his appearances on the show. He called Spraggan to try and motivate her, but according to Spraggan, the directing staff hung up on him. “He was like, ‘I’ve never been so angry,’” she shared with The Sun.
Despite not being a recruit himself, Cowell had considered joining the challenge. Spraggan joked that she thought he would “die” if he tried it. “He thought it was a great idea, me doing the show. He knows I love being outdoors,” she said. “We do a lot of shooting air rifles and stuff together, so he knows this is my thing, testing my mental resilience.”
However, Spraggan believes that Cowell’s wife, Lauren Silverman, could handle the course. “I think she could do it and should have a go,” she added.
Cowell has often spoken about his relationship with Spraggan, describing it as something that feels “like we’ve been friends for life.” Spraggan also expressed how much she values Cowell’s support, saying that “everything people get from their fathers, I get from Simon.” She called Cowell and Silverman a “constant support” in her life.
When asked about the pressure of the show, Spraggan emphasized her mental strength. “I have been through quite a lot in my life, and I’ve done a lot of work to navigate what that left behind,” she said. “I really hope that I can apply it to the course, and make it all the way to the end.”
She also mentioned that the course offers a unique kind of pressure that she hasn’t experienced before. “What I love about this course is the sheer pressure it puts on a human being, that you will just not get anywhere else in life,” she explained. “And I’ve had pressure, I’ve had so many forms of pressure, nothing like this, so I really just genuinely want to see how far my brain can go.”
The season will also feature other notable participants, including:
