Finalist Revealed for Destination X’s $250,000 Prize

The three finalists for the $250,000 cash prize on Destination X have been revealed, and Shayne Cureton was among those who didn’t make it to the final round. While he did get to spend his last day on a yacht in Monaco, his journey came to an end after a series of strategic moves and alliances that ultimately led to his elimination.

In the latest episode titled “How’s Your Poker Face?”, Shayne found himself in The Rock city alongside fellow Top 4 contestants Biggy, Rick Szabo, and Peter Weber. None of them knew exactly where they were, as the host, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, took them to a mountainous countryside that could have easily been mistaken for the American West or Western Europe. There, they played a game involving coded clues hidden in boxes, which included items like artichokes, golf balls, ring boxes, and mini shovels. These items were meant to represent symbols on a deck of cards and evoke thoughts of casinos.

Shayne and Biggy decided to share their clues, while Rick and Peter exchanged notes as well. Interestingly, Biggy also shared his clue with Rick, and Rick reciprocated with a misdirection. Later, they were asked to choose their location based on a map, with Shayne guessing Milan, which was far off from the actual location. They then had the chance to play roulette and move their X marks around, with Shayne helping Biggy by moving his X closer to the mark. However, Biggy ended up making the final move, placing himself closer to Monaco and leaving Shayne further out.

Reflecting on the Season

Shayne reflected on the emotional moments of the season, particularly his brief on-air romance with Ally Bross and his friendship with Biggy. He admitted that rewatching the show made him question the seriousness of their relationship but emphasized that they still remain friends. He expressed that things happened for a reason and that both he and Ally are happy.

Shayne also mentioned that Ally and Mack Fitzgerald plan to visit him in Indianapolis, and there’s hope that Biggy might join them. When asked about his decision to trust Biggy again after their previous conflict in Venice, Shayne explained that they had an agreement from the start: "I am your bulletproof vest as long as you get me through." He noted that he shared all the clues he received with Biggy and believed in their partnership throughout the game.

Strategic Moves and Alliances

Shayne was aware of the alliance between Rick and Peter towards the end of the season. He mentioned that he had warned Biggy about their collaboration, noting that their alliance lacked certain information. He also recalled the tension during the horseback challenge, where he chose to let Biggy handle the conversation, respecting his decisions even if it meant taking risks.

Throughout the season, Shayne felt that people underestimated his ability to play the game. He acknowledged that the social aspect of the game played a significant role in the elimination of some smart players. He pointed out that being too knowledgeable could lead to being targeted, as seen with Peter's decision to send Mack home.

Regrets and Favorite Moments

When asked if he had any regrets about moving Biggy’s X back to his position, Shayne said no, emphasizing that he would not have made it to the final round without Biggy’s support. He hinted at some of the events that occurred during the episode, including Biggy giving Rick his clue, but chose not to delve too deeply into the details.

Shayne shared that his favorite challenge of the season was the maze challenge, where he won and enjoyed the thrill of completing each checkpoint. However, he also mentioned that his favorite challenge to watch was the eighth one, highlighting the excitement and unpredictability of the game.

Connections and Memories

Shayne keeps in touch with some of the other cast members, including Biggy, Ally, and Mack. He mentioned that they formed a close bond during the show and continued to connect after it ended. He also referenced Tai, whose interviews caused some tension among the group.

Reflecting on the experience of traveling to Venice and Monaco, Shayne described the cities as amazing places to explore. He appreciated the opportunity to experience local culture, such as getting a haircut and interacting with the people. However, he noted that the production kept the contestants separated from the outside world after the yacht trip.

Final Thoughts

As the season concluded, Shayne expressed his support for Biggy and his hope that Rick would be eliminated. He remained optimistic about the future of the show and the potential for more exciting challenges ahead. With the finale approaching, fans can expect more twists and turns as the remaining contestants compete for the grand prize.
