Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) has strongly criticized President Donald Trump’s recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling it a “disaster” that allowed Putin to gain significant international legitimacy. Murphy expressed his concerns on NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” where he argued that the summit was not only embarrassing for the United States but also a failure in addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Trump himself praised the meeting as a “10 out of 10” and suggested that the responsibility now fell on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to make progress. Trump also mentioned plans for a joint meeting involving himself, Putin, and Zelenskyy, though no details were provided.

Despite Trump's optimism, the meeting did not yield any concrete outcomes regarding the conflict in Ukraine. Murphy further criticized the invitation extended to Putin, noting that war criminals are not typically welcomed in the United States.
