Known as "America’s Finest City," San Diego becomes a hub for pop culture enthusiasts during this four-day event. The convention has been a staple for over five decades and continues to grow in popularity each year.

Even if you can't make it to the event in person, there are plenty of ways to stay engaged and enjoy the excitement from home or from anywhere else. Here's what you need to know about San Diego Comic-Con 2025.

What is San Diego Comic-Con?

If you've heard of San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), you might be curious about the hype surrounding it. The event began in March 1970 when a group of comic book lovers gathered in a hotel basement to celebrate their passion. Over time, it evolved into a major gathering for artists, writers, and industry professionals.

In the late 2000s, Hollywood started to recognize the potential of the event, using it to promote new films and shows. A key moment came with the release of the first Twilight movie, which brought a surge of fans to the San Diego Convention Center. Since then, the event has become one of the most sought-after in the entertainment industry.

Despite competition from other conventions like New York Comic Con, SDCC remains the gold standard for pop culture events.
