Ray Stevens' Journey and the Future of CabaRay Showroom

After experiencing a heart attack six weeks ago, Country Music Hall of Famer Ray Stevens is gradually recovering. However, he has made the decision to sell his West Nashville-based CabaRay Showroom. At 86 years old, Stevens feels it's time to slow down, and selling the venue marks the first step in that direction.

In a press statement, Stevens shared his thoughts on the matter. “At 86 and with my recent health problems, it's probably time to slow down, and selling CabaRay is the first step,” he said. Despite this change, he remains committed to his passion for music. “In the interim, I still plan on doing shows once I’m fully recovered. I still have a lot I want to do in the recording studio, so I'll focus all of my energy in that direction along with making videos to go along with the music from time to time.”

What is the CabaRay Showroom?

Seven years ago, Ray Stevens opened the CabaRay Showroom, a live music venue and dinner theater located in Bellevue. This 35,000-square-foot space was designed to capture the ambiance of an old Las Vegas casino showroom. Since its opening, Stevens has performed hundreds of weekly concerts at the venue.

“I was just tired of the road, tired of traveling or having to get on a plane or bus to go where I needed to perform,” Stevens explained when interviewed by The Tennessean in 2024. He emphasized that his goal was always to continue making music. “I'm just doing what I've always done and trying to make music. I love what I do and I do just want to continue to do that as long as I can,” he added.

Potential buyers interested in acquiring the CabaRay Showroom are encouraged to contact Stevens’ office directly at 615-327-4629. “I'd like to see someone buy it and have as much fun here as I've had,” Stevens said.

The sale includes several key areas: the main showroom with upstairs and downstairs seating for over 700 people, a backstage production area with dressing rooms, a lobby, bar, kitchen, ticketing offices, a state-of-the-art studio, and office space. Additionally, the property features parking for 300 vehicles and tour buses.

Ray Stevens: A Legacy in Music

Ray Stevens is best known for his hit songs "Misty" and the comedic "The Streak." His unique blend of country and pop music helped bridge the gap between traditional country and mainstream pop when "Everything Is Beautiful" topped both the pop and adult contemporary charts.

His success has led to the sale of over 40 million albums. Stevens has also been honored with inductions into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Musicians Hall of Fame, the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, and a star on the Music City Walk of Fame.

Health Update and Recovery

Stevens reported experiencing chest pain and was admitted to a Nashville hospital, according to a July press statement. Doctors diagnosed him with a mild heart attack and subsequently performed minimally invasive heart surgery. In late July, representatives confirmed that he underwent a second procedure where two stents were placed to clear other blockages.

After spending a few days in a rehabilitation facility, Stevens returned home. His recovery continues, and he remains focused on his future in music.
