Season 13 of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” Unveils New Layers of Drama and Growth

MTV’s “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” continues to be the longest-running series in its franchise, with the debut of Season 13 on Tuesday, July 8. Longtime stars Rasheeda and Kirk Frost are back for another season filled with drama, personal growth, and unexpected moments.

Rasheeda shared her thoughts on how the show has evolved over the years. “You develop this little funny family over the years,” she said. “A little dysfunction, a little… love-hate relationships.” She added, “We’re just doing it on television, growing, trying to evolve, trying to figure it out.”

Kirk Frost also reflected on his return to the show. “It was both exciting and revealing,” he said. “We just figured out that some people weren’t as real as we thought.” He expressed disappointment in seeing people who he believed were cooler turn out to be fake and shiesty.

Rasheeda emphasized the intensity of Season 13. “We’re coming in blazing and ready to go,” she said. The season promises to be full of intense moments, with friendships tested and new dynamics emerging.

Trust is a big theme in this season. Kirk noted that it’s harder to come by. “People think you’re slow and they can get over to a certain extent,” he said. “We looked in and were like, wait a minute, are they really thinking they’re playing us?”

Rasheeda made it clear that not everyone on the show is a friend. “We’re not friends. You don’t call me off camera… you only do stuff on camera.” She added, “People tend to want to create a narrative about a person that’s untrue because you don’t want to be real about yours.”

Kirk also commented on the influence of online comments. “We’ve got people who literally read a comment and then get on television and say what the comments said. Like, you’re such a cloner. It’s so funny, but it’s almost disgraceful.”

When asked about the level of chaos in the season, Rasheeda was upfront. “You’ll see people going through some difficult situations… some friendships turn in another direction.” She added, “Ultimately, it’s life… you got to deal with everything that comes along.”

Kirk warned viewers to pay attention to the motives behind the drama. “There’s people… deflecting and want to just talk about Kirk and Rashida while their lives are in shambles.” He concluded, “That’s my word for this season—deflection.”

One moment fans didn’t expect was Rasheeda and Kirk extending an olive branch to Jasmine, mother to his son Cannon. Kirk explained the backstory: “We were in court for almost two years… over some money issues.” He continued, “It was going to get lowered. I opted to leave it where it was. And I got some custody now… so you’ll be shocked.”

“It’s just good to be at a place where we have no beef right now,” Kirk said. “Kids want to be kids, and love on each other, and family events and things. So, I don’t want the drama.”

Rasheeda reflected on the emotional weight of that reconciliation. “It’s been about a decade now,” she said. “Cannon is nine years old… I want him to just always know and understand that it’s unconditional love across the board.”

When asked what viewers should brace for, Rasheeda hinted at a volatile moment. “There’s going to be like a real difficult conversation… and it just don’t go good. And it’s very, very unexpected and very ratchet.”

Kirk didn’t hold back either: “The fake and the phony will be exposed. This is the time.”

Season 13 of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” airs Tuesdays at 8PM ET/PT on MTV.
