Prince William Shares Private Message During Family Break

Royal Family Takes a Break to Spend Time with Their Children
The Prince and Princess of Wales have taken a well-deserved break from their royal duties to spend quality time with their children during the school summer holidays. This period has allowed them to focus on family life, away from the public eye. However, Prince William did not miss the chance to show his support for the England Women’s Football Team when they made it to the UEFA Women’s Euro Cup finals.
A Public Message of Support
On July 22, after an intense semi-final match against Italy, Prince William took to social media to express his admiration for the team. He posted a message on Instagram, captioning a repost from the Lionesses official account: “Brilliant performance, Lionesses! One win from glory!” The post came just minutes after the game ended in the 118th minute, following a dramatic final 30 minutes of extra time.
Dramatic Final Moments
The match was a nail-biter from start to finish. Italy held a 1-0 lead throughout the entire game until the 95th minute when Michelle Agyemang scored a goal, seconds before the full-time whistle. This equalizer sent the teams into extra time, where both sides were clearly exhausted. However, a tackle by Emma Severini on Beth Mead led to a penalty. Chloe Kelly took the spot-kick, which was initially saved, but she quickly regained possession and scored the winning goal.
King Charles' Message of Encouragement
King Charles also shared his thoughts on the Lionesses’ remarkable journey. In a statement, he said: “My wife and I join all our family in wishing you, the proud Lionesses, our warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the Uefa Euro tournament. Your journey to this stage has been nothing short of remarkable, showcasing the skill, determination (and test of nerve!) for which your team is so rightly celebrated.”
He added, “Knowing the Lionesses’ fighting spirit, I suspect we are in for another thrilling encounter on Sunday. Your achievements continue to inspire countless girls and women across the nation, proving once again that with dedication and teamwork, anything is possible. Good luck, England. May you roar to victory once more.”
A Passionate Football Fan
Prince William has long been a supporter of women’s football. In early July, he visited the Lionesses at St George’s Park in Burton upon Trent during their training camp. He shared a video of his visit, captioning it: “Best of luck to the Lionesses at the Women’s Euros. Take pride in all that’s been achieved and believe in bringing home the win!”
He also praised the team’s efforts through the Made for This Game campaign, which aims to inspire more women and girls to get involved in football. In the video, he was seen meeting with England’s captain, Leah Williamson, and expressing his support for the team.
Lionesses' Journey to the Final
Throughout the tournament, the Lionesses have shown incredible resilience. They secured a 4-0 victory over the Netherlands after a disappointing 2-1 defeat to France in the group stages. Prince William was present at several matches, cheering the team on and engaging with fellow spectators.
They advanced through the group stages and into the semi-finals, where they faced Italy. Now, they will play either Germany or Spain in the final on July 27, 2025.
Prince George's Birthday Celebration
This special week also marked a milestone for Prince George, who turned 12 years old. To celebrate, new footage of the royal family was released, showing the children playing together. In one heartwarming moment, George and Charlotte could be seen spinning Louis around in circles as they carried him. The trio was also seen posing by a fence, with Louis sitting on top, and the clip ended with them walking hand-in-hand through a field with big smiles.
A caption on the post read: "12 today!" alongside a party popper emoji, capturing the joy of the occasion.
A Growing Legacy
As the Lionesses prepare for the final, the royal family continues to show their support for the team. Prince William’s passion for football is evident, and it seems his son, Prince George, is following in his footsteps. With the upcoming final, the nation will be watching closely, hoping for another thrilling performance from the Lionesses.
