Possible Foul Play in Baby's Disappearance

Investigation into the Disappearance of 7-Month-Old Emmanuel Haro Continues
Authorities in San Bernardino County are continuing their investigation into the disappearance of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro, with investigators stating they are “unable to rule out foul play.” The case has raised concerns and questions about what happened to the infant, as the mother’s account of events has been called into question.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening when Rebecca Haro, the baby’s mother, reported that she had been attacked by a stranger while changing her son’s diaper near her car at a Big 5 Sporting Goods store in Yucaipa. She described the encounter to KTLA, saying, “I was going to get the diaper and somebody said, ‘Hola,’ and I don’t remember anything since.” According to Rebecca, she woke up on the floor without seeing her son.
Law enforcement officials responded quickly, deploying K-9 teams and helicopters to aid in the search. Deputies from both San Bernardino and Riverside counties conducted an extensive search for Emmanuel but were unable to locate him. As the investigation progressed, the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division interviewed multiple individuals, including the child’s parents, Jake and Rebecca Haro.
During these interviews, investigators reportedly confronted Rebecca with inconsistencies in her initial statement. Following this, she declined to continue speaking with detectives. The sheriff’s department stated that, at this point, foul play cannot be ruled out in the case.
Mary Beushausen, the child’s grandmother, shared her belief that the couple would not harm their son. She mentioned that authorities asked Rebecca to take a lie detector test, but her husband, Jake, refused to do so until they hired a lawyer. Court records indicate that Jake has a criminal history, though the nature of the offenses is not publicly disclosed.
An AMBER Alert was not issued in this case because the criteria for such an alert were not met due to the lack of a suspect or vehicle description. Despite this, friends and family have taken it upon themselves to assist in the search efforts.
On Friday night, friends and family began searching for Emmanuel, and by Saturday, authorities had searched the couple’s home in Cabazon, reportedly using cadaver dogs. Both Rebecca and Jake Haro have pleaded for their son’s safe return, urging anyone with information to come forward.
Jake expressed his desperation, saying, “Whoever took my son, please return him. We just want him back. We won’t do anything to you. Just give us our son. Keep him safe, don’t hurt him, make sure you feed him and change him.”
Rebecca added, “If you know anything, please come forward or take him to the cops. Please come and bring my son back. I’m begging you.”
Emmanuel is approximately 24 inches tall and weighs around 21 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes, and is cross-eyed. He was last seen wearing a black Nike onesie.
Anyone with information about Emmanuel’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact local authorities.
