Arkansas Police Release Sketch of Suspect in Hiking Trail Murders

Authorities in Arkansas have released a composite sketch of a man they believe is a person of interest in the fatal attack on a couple who were hiking with their two young daughters at Devil’s Den State Park. The incident occurred on Saturday, and the investigation has entered its fourth day as police continue to seek information from the public.

The composite sketch depicts a man wearing a baseball hat and was the first image released by Arkansas State Police (ASP) to the public. The suspect is described as someone who was seen in the park on the day of the attack. Alongside the sketch, police also shared a new photo to help identify the individual for questioning.

Details About the Suspect

According to police, the suspect is a white male who was wearing a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark pants, a dark ball cap, sunglasses, a black backpack, and fingerless gloves. Authorities noted that the suspect was seen driving toward a park exit in a black, four-door sedan with a license plate partially covered by tape. The vehicle may be a Mazda and could have been traveling on either State Highway 170 or State Highway 220 near the park.

Police have not yet provided a motive for the attack or details about how the couple was killed. Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, were found dead at the park, while their daughters, aged seven and nine, were unharmed and are currently being cared for by family members.

Calls for Public Assistance

State police have urged anyone with information to come forward, including trailgoers who were at Devil’s Den on Saturday. They are asking individuals to review their photos and videos for any possible images of the suspect. Residents living near the park are also encouraged to check security and game camera footage for relevant information.

“Anyone who captured any video or pictures or anything suspicious, just let us know,” said state police spokesperson Nick Genty. “We’re investigating any and all tips that we get.”

Community Response and Family Statement

The Brink family had recently moved from South Dakota to Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and their water service had been connected less than two weeks ago. Clinton Brink was scheduled to start a job as a milk delivery driver on Monday, according to his employer, Hiland Dairy.

In a statement, the family expressed their grief and asked for privacy during this difficult time. They also urged anyone with information to contact the authorities immediately. “Clinton and Kristen died heroes protecting their little girls and they deserve justice. They will forever live on in all of our hearts.”

Ongoing Investigation

The FBI’s Little Rock field office is assisting state police in the investigation. The bodies of the couple have been sent to the state crime lab for further examination to determine the manner and cause of death.

Police are reminding the public not to post evidence online and to preserve original files before submitting them to the Arkansas State Police. They are urging anyone with even minor information to come forward immediately.

“I want to thank the public and our media partners for their support as we pursue the man responsible for this heinous crime,” said ASP Col. Mike Hagar. “We are using all available resources to apprehend this suspect and bring him to justice.”
