Piers Morgan Confronts Fox News Over UK PM's 'Disingenuous' Trump Comments

Piers Morgan Criticizes UK Prime Minister Over Free Speech Concerns
Talk show host Piers Morgan has made headlines by accusing U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer of being "disingenuous" when discussing free speech with former U.S. President Donald Trump. The exchange between the two leaders has sparked a broader conversation about the balance between online safety and freedom of expression.
During their recent meetings, Starmer and Trump discussed several key issues, including the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ceasefire deadline and the UK’s new Online Safety Act. This legislation has been controversial, with critics arguing it could lead to increased censorship on the internet.
While in Scotland, a reporter raised concerns about the new powers granted to the UK government, noting that they could be used to censor websites. In response, Trump humorously asked Starmer not to censor his sites, to which the Prime Minister replied, “We're not censoring anyone.” However, Morgan took issue with this statement, suggesting that the reality is more complex.
Morgan pointed out that if the Online Safety Act were solely focused on protecting children, it might be more palatable. But he argued that the real intent behind the law is something else entirely. “For people like me, who believe passionately in free speech, what is happening in the UK over the last few years is really quite fascinating and disturbing,” he said.
He went on to claim that there is a growing effort by authorities to police how people speak about certain topics, while not addressing more serious issues. “The Prime Minister was being disingenuous with Trump when he said he's on top of this and he's not suppressing free speech,” Morgan alleged. He added that the UK is suppressing free speech and focusing more on policing social media than on traditional crime.
Morgan also noted that Trump has been more popular during his recent visit to the UK than expected. “Very few protests, because a lot of people are watching the press conferences he's giving and they're nodding away,” he observed. He suggested that Trump’s messages about lower taxes, tougher borders, and reduced foreign wars resonate with many British citizens.
“British people are going 'Wow, that sounds good. Can we have a bit of that action please, President Trump?'" Morgan concluded.
Trump’s Health and Public Perception
Before this recent controversy, Morgan shared his thoughts on Trump’s health during an appearance on the Gyles Brandreth podcast. He revealed that he occasionally receives random phone calls from the former president. Amid growing speculation about Trump’s declining health, Morgan weighed in on his well-being.
“He's very flawed in many ways, but he has a lot of qualities that I think are also very strong ones. He's very loyal, he's extremely hard-working,” Morgan said. He noted that Trump’s team tells him that if he were in the White House, he would work a 13- or 14-hour shift. “Incredible energy, never had a drop of alcohol in his life, never had a cigarette, never had a drug, so he's remarkably healthy for a guy of his age.”
However, it was later revealed that Trump has chronic venous insufficiency, a condition that affects blood flow in his legs. Despite this, his physician, Dr. Sean Barbadella, issued a statement in April claiming that Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to serve as Commander-in-Chief.
This contrast between public statements and private health concerns has fueled further debate about Trump’s fitness for office and the transparency of his medical information. As the political landscape continues to evolve, discussions around free speech, health, and leadership remain central to public discourse.
