Pete Davidson Says 'I Feel Bad' After Sharing Girlfriend's Pregnancy News

Pete Davidson's Reflections on Pregnancy and Public Life
Pete Davidson, the 31-year-old Saturday Night Live alum, has shared his feelings of guilt over how he and his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, announced their pregnancy. The couple, who have been in a relationship since March of this year, made the news public last month, but Davidson has since expressed regret over the way the announcement was handled.
Elsie, a model and occasional actress, shared a series of video clips and photos on Instagram, captioning one post with, “Welp now everyone knows we had sex.” The images captured the couple in various moments, including hugging affectionately, wearing spa face masks together, holding hands, and visiting a hospital for an ultrasound. A final photo showed the sonogram, giving the world its first look at their unborn child.
Over the past week, Davidson appeared on a podcast where he discussed his concerns about the public nature of their pregnancy. In an interview with The Breakfast Club, he admitted that he feels guilty for potentially putting pressure on Elsie. He explained, “I feel bad for my girl because I bring a lot of s***. Anything I do or she does now is gonna be a thing. She's a very private person, and she's the one doing all the work.”
Despite being somewhat accustomed to the spotlight, Elsie is not entirely comfortable with the attention that comes with their relationship. Davidson acknowledged this, saying, “She's never made me feel this way or said anything, but I feel so guilty and horrible that I could not allow her to have the ideal pregnancy that almost every woman gets to have and enjoy.”
The couple’s relationship first gained attention in March when they were spotted kissing in public. They officially confirmed their romance two months later by making a red carpet appearance at the Blossom Ball in May. Their relationship has drawn significant media coverage, especially given Davidson’s history of high-profile relationships.
Davidson’s romantic life has often been in the headlines, with former partners including Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, and Kate Beckinsale. In a candid interview with PageSix earlier this year, he expressed frustration over being more known for his relationships than his work as a comedian. He said, “I’ve had some pretty adult relationships with some pretty amazing women, and when they’ve ended, it’s been cool. Everyone is dating everyone, and it’s Hollywood.”
He added, “Look at Paul Mescal, Timmy [Chalamet], and Barry Keough. But because I’m ugly, they wrote about me. I was harassed for like five years and it made my life a living hell.” Davidson also mentioned that he wants to be recognized for his professional achievements rather than his personal life. In a December interview with W magazine, he stated, “I just want to be known for doing good work. I want to be out there only when it’s a movie, stand-up, charity, or business ventures. That’s when I want to be seen. I don’t want to be this f** loser who just dates people. That’s not who I am.”
As the couple prepares for the arrival of their first child, Davidson continues to reflect on the balance between his public life and personal happiness. His journey highlights the challenges of maintaining privacy in the spotlight while navigating the complexities of love and family.
