Despite years of delays and shifting plans, a representative for Polygram Entertainment recently confirmed that Sony's biopic about Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne is still moving forward. The film, which focuses on the legendary rock star's relationship with his wife and manager, is currently in negotiations with a director, who could be announced soon.

In 2021, Sony first revealed its intention to create a film centered around the dynamic partnership between Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne. The project was developed in collaboration with Polygram Entertainment and Osbourne Media, the latter being the media label of the Osbourne family and Universal Music Group. Sharon, along with her children Jack and Aimee, were set to serve as producers alongside Polygram's Michele Anthony and David Blackman, as well as Sony's Andrea Giannetti.

Lee Hall, known for his work on "Rocketman," was initially attached to write the screenplay. His involvement has since been confirmed by Polygram, and he remains part of the original producing team. However, details about the potential director and the timeline for the announcement remain undisclosed.

Ozzy Osbourne’s iconic status—both as the frontman of Black Sabbath and through his solo career, as well as his role in the reality TV series "The Osbournes"—has long made him a compelling subject for a biopic. Jaffe sought to develop the project as a producer and met with Sharon and Ozzy, but the deal fell through due to issues with New Line Cinema, the studio at the time. Despite this, Jaffe never gave up on the idea. He later wrote a screenplay titled "Sharon" on spec, which was featured on the 2018 Blacklist. While the script gained attention, it was created without input from Sharon or Ozzy, raising questions about its authenticity and accuracy.
