Julia Hyman, a 2020 graduate of Cornell University, was also among the victims. She worked as an associate at Rudin Management, the real estate firm that owns the Park Avenue building where the shooting occurred. According to Cornell, she was a Manhattan native who studied hotel and restaurant administration.

Her passion for real estate led her to pursue a minor in the field, and she built a successful career after graduation. Her high school achievements included being a tri-varsity athlete in soccer, swimming, and lacrosse, and she served as captain of all three teams during her senior year.

The university expressed deep sorrow over her passing, extending condolences to her family and friends. Riverdale Country School, where she graduated in 2016, shared heartfelt memories of her bright smile, infectious laugh, and the kindness she brought to the school every day.

A Respected Executive with a Legacy of Service

Wesley LePatner, a senior managing director at Blackstone, was another victim of the shooting. She was described by the firm as “brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected.” LePatner leaves behind a husband and children, and her family called her “the most loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and relative.”

LePatner was known for her contributions to various philanthropic organizations, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Abraham Joshua Heschel School. Her impact on the institutions she touched was profound, and her legacy will be remembered by many.

A Dedicated Security Officer Who Put Others First

Aland Etienne, a security guard at the Park Avenue building, was also killed in the shooting. He was described by his family as more than just a brother—he was a father, a son, and a light in their lives. His brother, Gathmand Etienne, asked for prayers and strength as the family grieves.

Rudin Management, the company that owns the building, called Etienne “a beloved lobby security guard.” Manny Pastreich, President of 32BJ SEIU, praised him as a “New York hero,” highlighting the sacrifices made by security officers daily to protect others.
